seriously though... if they do bid £8m I wouldn't put it past Fat Mike to put a counter bid in of £4m for Messi... I would.

Barca only have 40M Euros to spend this summer (officially, according to Rosell their president). They've already spent 14m on Jordi Alba.

Everyone expects them to blow the rest on Javi Martinez.

Really? They've already got a load of defensive mids - Mascherano, Busquets, Keita ect.

I don't think they'll buy Cabaye, they could do better.

Martinez played CB last season I believe, maybe they're looking to him as Puyols replacement? That boyo is coming to the end of his career I feel.

Keita has left Barca.

I'm paying no attention to the story - £8m menas it isn't even worth reading the article.

Keita is gone, some Chinese team.

They want Martinez to play midfield and at the back.

Busquets has his faults but he's key to their midfield ball retention.

Pique lost form last season, Puyol is injury prone, they only really have one good left back - Alba (Thiago is ****e), and Puyol may have to cover.

Puyol is also the wrong side of 30, Martinez is 23 and very experienced.

Masherano very good at centre-back though.

I want this to happen. I am very happy my other half takes an interest in football now, but I'd rather have to explain the offside rule again than have her ruefully lusting after this french-sex-bomb. It's very disconcerting when, on going out, she decides to try and spike my hair up in imitation, just saying... Cabaye is MINE or nobodies!!!!

On a serious note... HELL NO

Better that she spikes your hair up and likens you to Cabaye, rather than cutting your hair into a bowl shape, punching your jaw over to one side, pulling your tongue out to one side of your mouth and sayin gyou look like Beardo.

Or cutting all his hair off and selling him to the Romans.

Hahaha <laugh>

Chaps, I'm also pretty glad she hasn't started speaking to me like Captain Kirk on heat, thinking I look like Obertan!

If she asks if she can shave your head then be afraid - very afraid.

Mr Obi usually asks me to don a Colo wig in the hope it will bring back those 'happy memories'.

Me thinks this could actually be in the vicinity of the truth, Xavi is getting old and they thought to have his replacement with Afellay. They made a big mistake with that. Afellay has been told he can pack his bags and leave after 1,5 years and maybe 10 sub ins. They need someone badly to replace Xavi in the future as he is turning 33 in January next year.

I'd be surprised if they weren't interested. He is a Barca style player but for £8m they can take a run and a jump. Quadruple that and I might be a bit concerned.

Just a hilarious story on so many levels:

1. You'd have to pay more than any 8m unless there is another release clause we're not aware of
2. With all due respect to Cabaye, I'm not convinced he's reached the levels of your typical Barca player just yet!
3. They have a policy of promotion from within and they have loads of Cabaye types already. The wonderfully talented Thiago Alcantra who'd walk into just about any side in the world, can't even get any game time
4. Martinez is well known as their top target along with the already signed Alba.
5. The Sun
