Not true. Born in northern Ireland and you have a choice on what nationality you can claim. It's not automatic. You can't be from britain though as you are from ireland. If you claim British citizenship( which legally you can if you want) you are still from ireland.

Good Friday agreement makes it the "birthright" of anyone born there to consider themselves british, Irish or both. They are not from Britain though. Can claim citizenship from day one. But then again an American or Brazilian or (insert any county) can do likewise after 5 years of living there. They are NOT from Britain thoug. Just have the right to claim citizenship called british. The citizenship name yes. Because people from the North of Ireland who chose to choose citizenship as a result of being from that part of the uk are not part of Britain. So it's a confusing name for people- as you've proven

Canada is in north America. It's not America though. Britain is Britain an Ireland is Ireland. Part of Ireland just happens to be governed by the uk government at present so the people can claim citizenship of the controlling nation. Doesn't change the fact it's not in Britain though. Yes but people can be Central American, South American and I know many Canadians consider themselves North Americans simply for geographical values. Norwegians, Swedish and Danes can consider themselves Scandinavians.
