Wrong. AJ is a far more prolific goalscorer than DJ. Them's the facts. AJ played more & scored more times than DJ last season. DJ has never got anywhere close to an England call up. please log in to view this image I rest my case, m'lud.
I trust in MH but dont understand this one and after all the dialogue he gave us last season. Not 4 me but that will probably change if he scores a dozen goals.
86 games and 13 goals. Hasn't Buszaky got better stats that that?! And he ain't even a striker......no thanks AJ.
How many did the man he's replacing get for us last season? Won't be hard to beat Not So Deadly Dudley's total!
I don't get your fixation on him only scoring against us in the league last season. If he scores three goals next season and they're all against Reading, Stoke, West Ham or whovever he'll have done more than DJC this season who did sod all when he got the chance.
Except hes got more PL goals in the last 3 seasons than AJ. 3 goals in the last 3 seasons for AJ against PL teams who are not QPR in 48 games, 3 ****ing goals in 48 games! 14 goals in 2 seasons for DJ in 41 games. 1 is a joke, 1 is respectable.
DJ scored more PL goals in the last 2 years with relegation fodder than AJ has at his whole career at Fulham that spans 4 years with a team that got into Europe 2 of those years.
Statistics can be made to suit any argument. Johnson has more PL goals than Campbell in total for example, but what difference does it make. Hughes backs himself to get the best out of a player he knows rather than one he has had a chance to look at for half a season and has concluded is ****e.
Fair enough, though the way Blackpool played suited him greatly and their ultra-attacking style meant they scored far more than most relegation fodder. When Palace played to Johnson's strengths he scored plenty.
Thats because DJ has only had 2 seasons in the PL, Johnson has had 7 and only got to double figures twice and hes also a penalty taker. Goals scored in the last 3 seasons 0 3 3 Id rather play Balanta. You really want to sign a poacher that has averaged 2 goals a season for the last 3 years and has only ever had 1 good season and that was down to diving to win a load of penalties.
11 of those were from pens. 10 is far less impressive. He hasnt even got the speed now to fool players into getting near him and then diving.
We're clearly not going to agree on this. I don't think either are good enough to play regularly but if a chance falls in the box to either as a sub I'd rather Johnson be on the end of it.
I dont see how you can say that unless the only time youve seen him was when we were at CC. Hes got an awful scoring record and you cant even argue that he does other things for the team like you could with HH or Zamora.
He's done it more often than Campbell who had one excellent season in a gung-ho team. Johnson will contribute more outside the box and offer more apart from being an average poacher.
BY more often, you mean it took him four years to score as many goals and DJ did in half the time. Im never going to like the bloke, I also hate him as well as thinking hes a crap footballer. We might as well leave it, nothing is going to change either of our minds.
Zamora and Johnson worked well together at Fulham so I think Hughes thinking is more about the partnership than the individual.
Using the argument that Johnson has played for England is ridiculous. So has Bothroyd! And look at how he has done. Johnsons stats are woeful at best. What counts is PL goals and he has scored virtually none. Everyone I speak to (QPR and mnay other clubs) laughs at the fact we are apparently signing him. He is useless.
