Please tell me that's a guess? Because there's no element of fact behind it. AJ was injured for the majority of Sparkles' reign. AJ's best season, if you can call it that came in his first season under HODGSON when he scored EIGHT league goals. World beater.

Under Mark Hughes in the 10/11 season AJ scored 3 in 27 EPL games, last season he scored 3 in 20 in the EPL. That’s 6 in his last 47 EPL games.

In the same period DJ Campbell had scored 14 in 41 EPL games.

In terms of Premier League experience he has it in abundance so I guess if that is what MH is looking for then he is a good signing. If your looking for a goal scorer then I don’t think he I any better than your 3rd/4th choice striker.

I think he will be a decent back up for you guys. He always gives 100% when he is on the pitch… the problem is he isn’t always fit.

Hoping a player gets a career threatening injury is bad enough but wishing that on one of our own is low even by your standards.

Ashamed to say I was so disappointed when Mackie signed! Alas my ignorance!! I trust MH and I feel certain we will see at least one higher profile signing in due course.

I reckon Johnson and Nelson are two good early signings to give backup if bigger names fall through. Hughes surely understands that neither will play every game, and hopefully others will come in who will mean they don't start every week. However, I can't help but remember that not that long ago our backup consisted of the likes of George Santos and Rob Steiner so I feel we are heading in the right direction.

    JOHNSON: TOP TEN THE AIM
Posted on: Wed 20 Jun 2012

New signing Andrew Johnson has targeted a top-ten finish for next season, following his move from West London rivals Fulham.

The 31 year-old's decision to pen a two-year contract means the former Crystal Palace and Everton man links up once again with his former boss at Craven Cottage, Mark Hughes, while Johnson also played with Bobby Zamora in SW6.

Speaking with www.qpr.co.uk after the ink had barely dried on his deal, Johnson told us: "The aim for QPR is to not be in the same position that they were last year.

"There's a great squad here with some top players, who didn't warrant being in the position that they were in on the final game of last season.

"The aim is to build on that and try and get the team in the top ten.

"The Club has got to be looking at finishing in the top ten next season with the money that's being spent here and the players that they're going to invest in.

"With additions, the current squad and the management team that's in place here, I don't see any reason why we can't."

He added: "There's a great squad here with some top strikers - including Djibril Cisse.

"It's going to be tough in terms of competition, but that's what you want. You want to be kept on your toes and you want to fight for your place. Healthy competition is good. It can only make you better and can only make the team improve."

Competition also comes in the shape of former Fulham team-mate Zamora - and Johnson continued: "Bob's a great lad. He's a good player, who was a fantastic signing for QPR in January.

"We're good friends off the field as well, and that obviously helps. We work well together.

"We didn't play a lot together (due to injuries). But when we did, we played some good stuff. We've got a good understanding and I'm looking forward to being back with the big man."

We all thought we were too honest and not cheating enough. johnson is one of the biggest cheats on the PL so he should get us a few undeserved pens with his diving.
