Do you think MT would be wanting a lot? Maybe £20k a week? I would have kept Boaz and I think he was on £16k a week. If we are going for promotion we have to up our salaries. We don't want to go up and then overpay for players so they will join us but not use them to their best. King and Geo were good players but Geo started to get pushed onto the wing and Cousin was played on his own up front.
Barnby & Pearson were told no money for players in the summer; only wheeling and dealing. Wonder if that's true for Mr Bruce. If it is then expect an exodus of our better players.
I don't think he would come if there's no money. He wouldn't be confident of doing well. He'd prefer to live off his reputation until he could get a job which offered money to spend.
sadly this topic is unreadable , but i suppose when whoever is appointed gets named officially then there will be a new thread . Birmingham are looking for a new manager again :
Over the last few days I think SB will have been bargaining with the Allams - and he will only sign today if he has got solid assurances of money to spend + if he knows how much - otherwise I think he would wait for another offer from another club.
Do we know 100% that they were told that - or is that AP's version of events? I'm not taking sides, but no one outside of the Allams, NB and AP will ever know the full story of what happened between them. SB wouldn't agree to join us unless he is given solid assurances of money for team strengthening.
Well lets hope that if he has been promised money it is not on condition that he gets rid of our high earning left overs from our days in the Prem cos no one else has had any luck in moving them on.
I think that if it is SB that we're getting he will be given money to spend (say £2m) plus all of the proceeds of sales from players that he moves on himself. I can't see Bruce signing on with us and being told that he can only wheel and deal to get players in. If the Allams are genuinely wanting or expecting to be promotion contenders then they'll realise that team strengthening is required as last season's squad did fall short of the top six. We're all acutely aware of what areas we need to strengthen and that has already been discussed at length on other threads.
I would expect that to be the case and Bruce would deserve getting a promotion bonus. It would but Vito and Gerrard would be cheaper for now at least. Whatever money is available to Bruce a large portion of it should be used on another goal scorer. imo. As for CBs we also have Liam Cooper and Sonny Bradley as back ups at the very least. Unless Slumberland are prepared to allow Turner to leave on the cheap now, We may as well wait until next summer when MT would be a free agent. After whats happened with AP / NB and the Allams HDM article the Allams have to do something now regardless of what went on before. Bruce will want funds. He will want to add to the quality already here. Why make extra work for yourself. ? Agreed. Come on in one Phil Brown. The time is right and we have the job for you. I would. He is not someone i want at the club. After the likes of King and Bullard we dont want or need more trouble makers.
Well if the BBC is right, its done, not sure how I feel about it, but I give him a chance, maybe he'll be good for us
Good appointment IMO, but it wouldn't surprise me if he walks out before the end of the season when he realises we don't have the money he 'needs'. He strikes me as that kind.
I agree with this. I think the Allams have got themselves into a position where they have to spend now, their reputations are very important to them and they'll want to limit any damage done to them. I think it'll be weird supporting him though, I've never really liked him as a person or a manager really, so singing his name at away games will just be weird.
Not sure why you lot feel the need to keep throwing **** at each other, whilst claiming to want to just enjoy the footy and rebuild the bridges allegedly destroyed by the Allams. I mean, why the **** resurrect a thread from over 3 years ago? Some people DO change their views, or learn stuff, and some organisations do change. Give it a ****ing rest, surely you're better than this ****?
It seems to highlight a positive for the OSC to me. Problems were raised, the OSC listened and acted. Seems a proper way to go to me.
