McClean was playing abroad, completely different circumstance to Trotter.

I don't understand what point you're trying to make then. Surely playing for Derry City against absolutely piss-****ing-poor teams is a credible example as to people that can become a success from humble beginnings?

Because there are less people scouting players from poor leagues like the Irish league, the likelihood of someone like McClean going under the radar for a few seasons is perfectly credible whereas someone like Trotter who is watched by scouts on a more regular basis gets assessed more often so scouts have a better idea whether he is good enough for the Premier League or not.

McClean was a gamble that paid of when Martin O'Neill became manager of Sunderland and started to select him in his team,he was playing in the reserves prior to his appointment.

Trotter might be the best buy of the season but I have my doubts. It's all paper talk at the moment...

Lots of players...

How specific, surely you must know a couple of names?

I'll help you out by telling you who I would like us to try and attemp to get and you can shoot them down by saying they are ****.

Trippier
Curtis Davies
A right winger from abroad, if I had to pick I'd say Montero from Villarreal
Rodriguez

We will probably end up with none of those but anyone else who Adkins deems as good enough is fine by me

You don't understand where I'm coming from, poor lad.

He's not the only one, I don't think anyone does!!

Liam Trotter is a man mountain in midfield. Box to box midfielder, good passer, can tackle, has the ability to score goals. Exactly what Saints lack a real presence in midfield to complement MS and JC. He is an underrated english player and due to this you feel underwhelmed. Would be a good addition for 99.9% of Southampton Supporters.

You are in the minority mate.

A minority of one.

Adrien the CM who plays for Sporting? If so I haven't seen him play much, but if he is breaking into the Sporting side there is no chance he will join us
Whittingham would cost a small fortune if the investment in Cardiff is to be believed, would rather have Trotter
Trippier agree on this one
Tomkins :D no chance, why would he leave West Ham?
Jarvis will have bigger clubs interested, would be a pretty big coup if he joined us
