We are only taking the one ... so assuming there are are 40 odd teams with squads of say 20 ... I am even more bullish about the kid's prospects
According to Sky the deal could rise to 1.7M He is having a medical today But they did say at the Walkers Stadium
apparently he turned down both Cardiff and Peterborugh - see below http://www.thenonleaguefootballpaper.com/article.asp?aid=14364&iid=294&sud=283 http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7762163/
Most add-ons are contingent on milestones - if he scores 20 goals and fires us to promotion we'll look back and think it was 'cheap as chips' ... my own view is that this guy has arguably the most impressive record coming from that level since Ian Wright -he is hungry, has potential and is now getting the stage on which to show that potential - I'm old enough to remember this guy - take a look at where he was signed from, the date of his debut for Liverpool ... and then fas an International .. this is what everybody hopes to find ... a hidden diamond. Steve Heighway Birthdate: 25.11.1947 Birthplace: Dublin Ireland Other clubs: Skelmersdale United, Minnesota Kicks Bought from: Skelmersdale United Signed for LFC: 0 May 1970 International debut: 23.09.1970 vs. Poland International caps: Ireland 34/0 - 1981 Liverpool debut: 29.08.1970 Last appearance: 08.04.1981 Debut goal: 17.10.1970 Last goal: 11.11.1978 Contract expiry: 1981 LFC league games/goals: 331 / 50 Total LFC games/goals: 475 / 76
Any particular reason the Hull fans have decided to visit? Jealous perhaps? Oh sorry, it's just that even Jermaine Beckford scored 15 this season (with less games played) and that Nugent got 16 too So the strike partnership of 31 beats your best of 22
Bored of discussing who our new manager will be and there's nothing else going on. We don't have to drag in cup games against Swindon to try and make our strikers look good, all Fryatt's goals were in the league(in which Beckford scored 9, while stiffing you for some ridiculous wage and being a lazy arsed bastard).
Touched a nerve? The topic was goals scored this season. Beckford has scored 15 despite being absolute ****e. If you really want to get your teeth into it then can you tell me how many Fryatt scored from the penalty spot?
I predict this lad will be the dogs bollocks.. character is a big thing, i think he has the right character...so there's the kiss of death for him...sorry.
Not so sure I agree about Fryatt...he is good at this level when his confidence is high (which isn't often). But defo thing it applies to Hobbs.
So the same amount of goals Beckford scored against Swindon? Out of interest who are Hull looking at for their new manager, I heard Kevin Blackwell is interested in it Do you think you can repeat your top 8 finish next season?
I think it will be Lee Clark and I'm not going to start making predictions for next season until I know who's in charge and how much he's got to spend.
I'm with you ... we may be left with egg on our faces (and I don't like egg) but this is an EXCITING signing .... he will want make an impact and become a fans favourite ... he has been given an opprtunity and has nothing to lose ... whilst Youtube footage can be misleading the boy does seem to have pace, aggression and an eye for goal ... he also seems to be someone who works very hard for the team .... a concept that mr beckford has never been famous for wherever he has been ..... he will be up against a couple of young guns in waggy and the Schlupmeister so will need to prove to everyone that he deserves the shirt ... I'm hopeful that he will do just that.
