It was always pretty deluded to think a player of Holt's calibre could pull on the national shirt. You can't get away with pulling defenders about in international football, it's as simple as that. You can talk about his goals but he has no experience and scoring off your shoulder / back / arse / shin is all very well but won't win you England caps. He was probably about tenth on the list behind lots of strikers with big game experience.

im sure there are articles for each striker, including Lambert. You chose to read the ones about Holt. Certainly pundits I've seen, Shearer, Lineker, Lawrenson and the Sky Sports lot didn't think he should go. You couldn't see past your bias and the reaction about him being hard done by is nonsense.
