I dont believe we should just accept the change. I hope the Trust and the Supporters group can get Tan to change his mind. Problem with the internet is that there is now scaremongering and rubbish being posted. My opinion is there are non City fans stirring things. AA and CC are 100% City fans though. More than entitled to voice their opinions. Im sure there will be a good debate. Just hope the press interview those who are well informed.
Dai...thats because it's geographical and has nothing whatsoever to do with your football club...otherwise you would have a little Canadian dog on your badge... which, I guess, technically makes Cracker the only true jack as he's from Canada Anyway, on the subject of the nickname... I haven't once seen it written anywhere that the nickname will change and dont see any reason why it would. Take Sunderland for example, The Black Cats...play in Red and White. It was chosen by the fans in '97 when they left Roker Park. So, once a Bluebird, always a Bluebird
A compromise might be a red kit and bluebird badge. It's probably been suggested already. Thing is, although it appears that this bloke is happy to be hear for the long haul, he won't be here for ever. there will come a day when he goes. WHat will happen then. Will we have accepted the red or will we go retro? 70 million is a lot of debt. I'd rather play in red, have the debt vanish than get docked points and face a relegation battle.
Hilts. I hope to god it is neither AA or CC that gets interviewed or any of the other selp professed mouthpieces for the supporters of the Club. They may be City fans through and through, however and choosing by words carefully, at least one of them has a not so rosy past, battlebus and all that. This is escalating into something out of nothing. They really do need someone with a little bit of nonce that isnt looking through a tunnel to talk to the media, and more importantly with a balanced view.
forgive me if this has been posted http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...e-difference-between-success-and-failure.html
This is a major change of identity for the club and as such, it is only fair that those who pay their dues to support it have their feelings voiced. The huge danger is that those who are most vociferous tend to be seen as the common concensus. All sorts of hidden agendas have been suggested, the most commonly recognised being the intent to make the Malaysians pull back and allow the beloved Sam to return. If anything spells disaster for the club, then that's it. I don't believe for one minjute that the Malaysians haven't factored in the fallout and backlash from some as a result of this colour/emblem change. Despite loads of references alluding to the "fait accompli" being just that - accept it or we walk, I haven't seen a single piece of evidence that that is what has actually been said. That's the way they want it and ultimately they will decide, but as far as I'm aware they have already sunk circa £15M into the club, most of it as equity. I doubt that even a wealthy man like VT will want to leave that behind to go down the pan. This is not over yet. There is still time to change VT's mind and we should do everything to influence his decision, but that does not require a bunch of rabble rousers chopsing to the media as if they speak for the majority.
Sparkey: This is on the Supporters site as a summary of the meeting. The meeting was told that the change to red kit and Welsh dragon badge was non-negotiable and there was no viable alternative for the Board but to accept the proposals as the club could not survive financially without the investment.
This meeting on Saturday is a recipe for disaster imo. I don't disagree with it in principle, everyone has the right to voice their concerns but as far as I can make out, its to discuss the 'next steps'. The next steps in what? Nothing has been confirmed only proposed...Have a meeting and even a protest march once the actual facts have been announced and everybody knows where we stand... there is always room for a compromise with these things and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the "fans leaders" are made to look f'kin stupid come Saturday night. If you go by the WoL poll (i know, i know), the fan base is split over this and as its an open meeting, there's just going to be arguments from both sides over nothing more than opinions of whats been posted so far. Throw in some alcohol (or alcopops given some of the stuff I've read) and the local plod are going to be busy and we'll hit the headlines again for all the wrong reasons. I really hope I'm wrong. I've posted this elsewhere but thankfully haven't seen any of it on here:
Yeah - once was enough Siam. That is as may be, but the where does it say that VT et all will walk away? That statement is something the other members of the board felt they had to say. Being presented with those proposals means they have a duty to act in the interests of the shareholders and spell it out in that fashion. Whether VT and his associates actually want out unless they get 100% of what they want is quite another matter.
Sorry mate I just thought you may have missed that bit. I guess that is where the idea comes from. Non-negotiable basically means like or lump it. But yes, it has not been said in the exact words that VT would walk away.
Was It forced down the throats of Cardiff fans Rhondda back in 1927 . It's not the change that have a LOT of supporters irate , it's the manner & arrogance in the way it was dropped on staunch " Bluebird " fans , it could be said that disaster comes with the change ... tough position to be put in .
Cracker, I dont disagree with that hence "everyone has the right to voice their concerns". All I'm saying is that solely going on some of the MB's and twitter discussions already this week, putting the same people in a room under the same circumstances - before anything is confirmed, is just asking for trouble.
Absolutely , this is an incredible event that has been placed in the supporters laps & the only good way out is calmly & united . I really think the Malaysians had no idea this would erupt & thought they weren't doing anything really radical , these foreign owners really need to take an extended " Crash Course " on football fans in Great Britain .. Never a dull moment with you lot , never !!
Not so sure they didn't know. They have been to matches and seen what goes on. They would have talked to somebody at the club and got some advice. I just think they assume that once the season starts, players have been signed, and the protests start to die down, that in the end they will have their way. I doubt they have not considered this.
siam, you're probably right but the above doesn't sit well with me. With all the power they have at the club, I can't see the advice being that passionate against what is essentially their bosses wishes... call me cynical but job preservation springs to mind.
True H. And I am sure they all have shares in the club, so an investment like this...share prices go boing.
I don't think that is the case here Siam. CCFC Ltd is a private limited company, whose shares are not publicly traded. It would be very interesting to see a current summary of shareholders as we did about 2/3 years ago when the Malaysian interest was first discussed. There were a number of fringe interest then (AA for one I believe). Are those still there or have the smaller share holdings been swallowed up in the reorganisation? I think there have been a couple of share capital restructures in the last 2 years but don't know the outcomes. If this goes ahead the amount invested in shares will far outstrip the club's asset value and we are still a Championship club for now. The value of the club and then the shares will increase as our performance on the field and financially improves. The finances will get better as debt is eliminated and we don't have to pay any interest - apart from the stadium mortgage. On the field.....................
