I actually have an equal dislike for both of them. I think either could probably do a half decent job, but they both get on my nerves.
Not that I'm a fan of Mick McCarthy but why would he want to come here ? I can't see him been a yes man for the Allams
McCarthy has been a prem manager for a good few years now, surely he would only go for a big prem job or a recently relegated prem team like wolves, blackburn etc... cant see him coming to us unfortunately.. Warren Joyce was approached before Barmby was given the job and he turned it down.... do we know the real reasons why ? maybe it was because it was already half way through a season... who knows, he must be a little bit tempted though.. I cant think of any other popular managers that would excite fans other than Ole Gunnar, his name was around when pearson left and would easily be able to keep our squad together as he worked with the likes of chester, stewart & evans for a while as their Reserve Team manager.
If Mick was poked in the eye and stood at the top of the stand, he might be led to believe we are wolves. I reckon its a goer!
I think the 'very popular' tag points to him being someone the fans are familiar with. There's no reason to assume Warren Joyce has suddenly changed his mind and current events would make any future reltionship between NB and the Allams very difficult. Therefore my money's on Horton. He's out of work, he would be cheap and I'm sure the owners would think he could mend some bridges between them and the fans.
Let's have McCarthy with Roy Keane as his no.2 and then if the football's rubbish we could enjoy the fight between MM and RK, and MM and the Allams', RK and the Allam's, RK and the Allam's v MM etc etc
Yeah but MM was sacked by Wolves so doubt he'd go back, it's not like they have changed owners or anything in the last coupld of months since, unlike PB who git sacked & the old regime has changed. This however is not a hopeful cry for PB to come back. I liked him & thought he was done wrong at the end but I don't think it would be wise for a return.
This would be a list that noones actually seen, more than likely is a figment of someones imagination and doesnt actually exist, but if it were, it would have someones name on it thats popular? I need a lie down.
I thought McCarthy did a good job of getting Wolves up. If his chairman hadn't done a 'Panic Pearson' and sacked him during the season when there was still a good chance of Wolves staying up, well, they'd maybe still be there now. He's a Yorshireman too.
I think the Allams are preparing the way for Billy Davis. Wasn't the first thing AP did when he got to Derby was sack Mr Davis (and look how that turned out!)? Come to that didn't he get rid of PB soon after coming back to us (and look how that turned out!)? Hmmm... wonder why he's gone??
Oh and I'd like to see Pepe, he'd be popular with me, and we already play like Barca so he'd settle in, in no time
I must admit when I read the article Brownie was the first name who came to mind. He's out of work and would love to land this job again, or any job for that matter. He has already done what the Allams apparently require from a manager i.e get us into the play offs/promotion. He would be popular with half of us at least. Even though at the time i did think he should of been sacked (well actually I thought he should of a couple of months before), it is starting to sound like it makes more sense. Am I going crazy, probably yes. We shouldn't be getting rid of Nick in the first place, but I can't see any chance of him staying whatsoever at this point. Also if the ship is going to go down, we may as well do it with captain brown at the helm because there'll be some smiles along the way.
I've just heard another suggestion for the popular candidate and I'm not sure he'd be as popular as they think.
Ok unless I'm missing something here, isn't the 'popular decision' NB? The article states that NB hasn't actually been sacked yet, sp surely the most popular decision would be to let him continue as manager (I doubt it will happen though). I'd also hazard a guess that one of them is Lee Clark, as he has no job and we wouldn't have to pay compensation.
Whoever they pick, there will be a **** load of haters, a **** load of supporters and a **** load of couldnt give a ****s. Even Barmby is thought of in those terms. Its a thankless task, like being England manager, cept with less national press piss taking of course.
