Lee Tomlin mentioned on SportsTalk, reading through the lines it looks like Nick is interested.

Nick was very coy with Burnsie but maybe Just maybe he may be one of them listening between the lines.

No matter how fat he is, if he scores goals, I don't care.

He's still in contract though isn't he? and apparently there's no money.

NB definitely sounded interested in Tomlin. When asked about Green it was "No he's not one we're interested in." When asked about Tomlin the reply was along the lines of "I like him, but he's under contract so it'll cost a fee and that'll depend on the owners. I don't like talking about other teams' players."

Does he ever play on the wing? I wonder how NB wants to fit him in?

Now how could we get hold of an under contract Peterborough player without actually spending any money?

    Maybe a trade?

One of our key players saying in the press that fans need to be patient because given time we could copy Reading. Does it not seem odd that this season hasn't actually finished and they're telling us not to expect anything next year? Still, at least they got the season tickets on sale and everyone signed up before they started playing down our chances...<doh>

I guessed this the other day when you hinted towards it. I reckon a trade would suit all four parties.

Unsure on the Lee Tomlin one, not necessarily someone i have seen a lot of but to me looks like the goalscoring midfielder that we are missing?

Can anyone else shed on light on him, as i have only seen him play a few times. His movements at times seem excellent and he has a great touch, but thats about as far as my knowledge goes.

My only memory of him is from the game in January. And based on that he's a fat short arse forward who can't stay on his feet if opposition players get within 10 foot of him.

    This is relevant:

HULL CITY: No split over Tigers' future, says Barmby

HULL City boss Nick Barmby insists there is no danger of a rift developing between himself and the club's board ahead of their eagerly-anticipated budget meeting next week.

The Tigers sign off an encouraging campaign when they travel to West Ham United tomorrow, but it is an imminent get-together of the club's hierarchy that will have the greatest bearing on City's future.

GOOD RELATIONSHIP: Hull City manager Nick Barmby says he has a good relationship with owner Assem Allam, with both wanting the best for the club.

GOOD RELATIONSHIP: Hull City manager Nick Barmby says he has a good relationship with owner Assem Allam, with both wanting the best for the club.

Together with head of football operations Adam Pearson, Barmby will sit down with owners Assem and Ehab Allam early next week to draw up plans for the 2012-13 season.

Barmby has already called for a show of support in the summer transfer market and challenged the Allam family to match his long-term ambitions as City boss.

In reply, the Allams, who have already pledged £51m since pulling the Tigers back from the financial brink 17 months ago, have so far been tight-lipped over their plans, but Barmby believes there is no division forming at the KC Stadium.

"The relationship I have with the owners is great," Barmby told the Mail.

"There's no one as thankful for what they did than me.

"I've not been vocal to upset anyone. People can read into it and say there's a split but there isn't a split.

"What the owners have done for this club is unbelievable, everyone knows that and we'll be forever grateful for that.

"From a footballing point of view we've got the makings of a very good side – we can all see that.

"We won't be silly with transfers and we'd never put this club at risk. Those days are gone and the owners know that. All we want is the best for this club, that's all we want."

Despite a run of 10 points from a possible 12, City are destined to fall short in their pursuit of the Championship play-offs at West Ham tomorrow.

Already three points better off than their efforts of last season, the Tigers are guaranteed to finish no lower than ninth as Barmby's first season in management draws to a close in the capital.

The 68 points amassed this season gives Barmby hope for a prosperous new term beginning on August 18, but the City boss knows next week's meeting could be pivotal.

Asked what he hoped to achieve from discussions with the Allam family, Barmby said: "The main thing is that we're all together, because so far we have been, that's very important.

"There shouldn't be any breakaways in any club because we all want to see everyone united and pulling in the same direction.

"That's the most important thing for the club. It's not about any individual, it's about a close-knit group that wants success for everyone."

As well as retaining his leading lights with new and improved contracts, Barmby wants "four or five" new faces to freshen up his ranks this summer.

Pearson has previously stated that the majority of City's business will be done in the free transfer market and if that is the case, Barmby wants swift action.

"This is where you set your foundations and your tone for next season," he said.

"If we can get players in as early as possible, then the fans get just as excited as we do.

"I'm not a businessman but the sales of your tickets would respond if we're seen to be positive. The fans will come in their thousands."

August 18th for the start of the season? I know there's the Euros and the Olympics but that seems a bit late, it would mean the PL started on 25th (as the Charity Shield is the same weekend as the Championship every season)

The PL has only 38 league games to fit in whereas the FL has 46 and with no summer football in 2013 of any great length the season should still finish in May i would suggest even with a later start. Thankfully the month of march 2013 should be less crowded fixture wise.
