Because frankly I dont believe his / their intentions are honourable on this matter. Handing over a £28.5million development from public money is an extraordinarily risky thing to do. And dont insult me on the FC matter, if he did come out and say it threatened them I'd be more likely to be on board...

I wasn't insulting you at all, I was just saying it'd be easy for you to use the FC as an excuse as the council keep doing and it'd waste a few minutes of our time while we discussed that it was nonsense and had been shown to be nonsense already.

If you don't believe them that's fine, but surely there can be clauses written into any agreement that the sports village must go ahead or the deal is off.

I didnt really think you were insulting me, I was being flippant

As for the 'lack of forward thinking' argument being thrown from all angles at the council, that really isnt it at all. They would love the developments he has talked about and the 'free gift to the city of Hull', hence why he was offered Costello and other land absolutely free with no barriers whatsoever. If they lacked the 'vision' as is being levied then they wouldnt do this. Again, when it comes to the KC it comes down to trust in his intentions.

Just wondering how come this has been reported in the FT yet nothing on the hdm website or radio humberside news.

Agreeing with Crab on this, though not mainly because I'm worried about the Allams true intentions.

My concern is that the Allams won't be here forever: could be 3 seasons, could be 20. If the KC were to be sold off to them it would no doubt get rolled in with the club to the next owner, then with a bit of bad luck and the money drying up we end up in a similar situation to the one at Boothferry, locked out and everything...

While I agree with that the Allams offered nothing for the stadium, think that was fairly obvious for the stories, he can't be given the land and stadium by the council and then just build housing on it without approval so the agreement that he was only after the land to line his pockets I don't believe to be true.

My interpretation of it all is that he wanted to build a sporting complex which would cost around an estimated £120million. He wanted a £30million contribution from the council to do this. Instead of getting a £30 million contribution he asked for the stadium instead, as the contribution. He would then have been able to borrow money against it to raise further money.

The problem is he went about the whole situation in the wrong way, which I think he now realises. When he first took over the club he was in the paper and media every week. We don't hear anything like as much anymore. I'm sure something could have been drawn up which would have suited both parties and the city of Hull. Only time will tell if this will happen.

The Fair has got literally zero impact on the decision process regarding this, it is simply an easy target from the Pro-housing Development to line the Allams Pockets camp.

Terry Geraghty said that the fair site was not up for discussion.

And what pro-housing development plan camp?

There is no housing development plan, that's just easy target for the I don't know what the **** I'm talking about camp. :emoticon-0110-tongu

Erm.......No we would not with the right safe guards in place.

As for Terry Geraghty, that bloke is not fit for purpose. end of.!!!

I heard the council wouldn't sell because they got the funding to build the stadium (or some of it anyway) from the national lottery, but if they gave away the stadium they would have to repay the funding themselves as it would be owned by a private company.

It cost £44m to build and £42m came from the KC sell-off, so I think that's rubbish.

That has always been my concern. Whilst the Council own the KC it will always be the home of Hull City. Who in the distant past could have predicted what would happen with Boothferry. We don't want to be in that situaiton again. I think it just makes sense knowing our luck with things.

With houses on the other side of Walton Street it surely would not be hard to put plans in place for the other side of Walton Street where the fair usually goes, the houses wouldn't exactly look out of place would they. If the place was to be developed in some way I could see it as housing and not sports stuff much as I would like it to be. I am not totally agains the Allams, just not quite sure enough to sign away the KC to them.

1. Nobody has asked for planning permission for houses.

2. If the council got rid of the land, they could put a covenant on it, so that it could only ever allowed it to be used for sport facilities.

3. The existing redevelopment of the back of Anlaby Road had the land for the first phase given away free, I assume the Allam's could get a similar deal if they wanted it.

4. If the Allam's wanted a residential property development, why on earth would they chose a ****e area to build it in?

This is a complete red herring, it's not valuable residential building land, there's far better places to build a residential development should that be their motivation.

I think you're banging your head against a brick wall OLM.

Some people don't get it and never will.

Hull has always been held back, and is well behind other Cities due to the apathy of both the council and a lot of the locals.

Mr Allam has ambition and vision, unfortunately for him he's in the wrong City.

So....Terry Geraghty didn't say that?

Answer: YES HE DID!

Yeah, and Terry Geraghty sometimes says silly things when on the radio as he tries to boost his profile. If you really think elected community champions such as him rather than 6 figure salaried officers are making decisions then I have news for you.

I know you like to blow your own trumpet on here like you're the only person with any inside knowledge but again, I have news for you.

That is complete nonsense I'm afraid.

Yes, but that could mean under 5's Drypool League or girl's hockey. The council are completely unable, as non owners of the club, to introduce a covenant saying that Hull City AFC as they are known today will continue to play their home games at the area presently known as the KC Stadium.
