That is exactly right, I knew we would lose when we didn't manage to get a goal by half time. The last two games at home I just have not enjoyed at all, felt bored with the way they are playing.

I won't be renewing my pass, but only because I'm off to Uni.
Lucky escape really, it's a good excuse <laugh>
I'm actually quite glad I'll miss next season - it's going to be an absolute nightmare I'm afraid. No money to spend and, after finishing 16th, along with the manager losing the dressing room... there's a good chance we'll lose some players. We're looking at 19th-20th next season unless something changes drastically.

This is the thing I fear; NP had managed to retain some of the momentum of coming down from the PL even despite the financial **** we were in. Now we have no financial excuses but if we lose a couple of players and don't add to the squad we could well be the next Watford/Palace/Derby/Coventry and have to start building all over again. I really hope Burnsy is wrong and we get some money spent on the team over the summer.

I didn't actually hear what Burnsy said - what gave him the idea that we had no money to spend?
Or was it as simple as 'from what I've been hearing, the transfer budget will be limited' or something along those lines?

It was along those lines. But also from what I've been hearing the Allam's have been cost-cutting all over the place. I get the impression they are a bit surprised by the amount of expenditure involved in football clubs and didn't think there would be much more than the initial outlay. They seem to want the club to make as much profit as possible rather than being as successful as possible. They have stopped anyone getting things like free tickets (which are otherwise empty seats) to any party that was previously getting them, they have started charging the OSC ridiculous prices to hold meetings or even have a coffee at the stadium which all used to be free. Not only have they stopped freebies for these people but they've replaced it with profiteering; they promised a signed shirt for some raffle or something and then charged £100 for it after the event. That isn't just covering the cost of the shirt that's deliberately making the biggest profit possible from it. Just like the tickets thing, this is a shirt which would otherwise be in a box somewhere at the end of the season. There are loads and loads of stories like this. Anything where AP would sort something out for free to be helpful has been replaced with desperate penny-pinching.

Well, some of us suspected an ulterior motive when they took over and it's starting to head that way. I mean, I know they ploughed a ****load of money into the club and it all sounded very well and good - a stadium expansion, a sports village, £10 tickets.. Stories like that are definitely worrying and point in the direction.
The main thing that wouldn't make sense is that, well, how the hell did they expect to get that £50m+ back?

Good question. I'd love to chat with them and see how they feel about the team being promoted.

Burnsey said on tuesday and again today that there would'nt be any money to spend in the summer so they'd have to sell to buy, also said redundancy letters had been given out after the cardiff game and they were now charging other teams scouts admission into kc

I'm not sure you can call it profiteering, they've put in £50m in cash and are covering another loss of £9m in the current year, they're a million miles away from making a profit. The reality is, that the only way they will have any chance of ever recouping their investment, is with a sustained period in the Premier League and they must be aware of that. Considering the club is still making losses and they're having to cover those losses, it's hardly surprising that they want to do all they can to reduce them(though withdrawing the free tickets for scouts and players seems rather pointless and self defeating).

From what was said at the start of the season, the club was supposed to be capable of running itself without any need for extra investment by the end of this season. Is that still likely to become a reality or have we hit complications?
I'm guessing by though that the wages of the likes of Oli, Macca and Ghilas aren't included in this supposed eventuality.

Pearson was a good manager for us in terms of the playing staff and morale, there is no way he was a failure even if the way he left was badly done. The irony of this now is that people are knocking Barmbys interview style, if anything he is even more dour himself!

Maybe when people on here say redundancy notices have been handed out this means the start of the 90 day period. Have a go at Burnsy all you like but he has a job to do and unfortunately that means talking to the Manager after another defeat, I would not relish that job at the moment. I also think that he probably does know a lot of what goes on behind the scenes but cannot come right out and say so but just gives little hints as to it.

Like the time when he said the Allams takeover had failed? He is full of the brown stuff, not even sports editor now is he, probably knows as much as anybody else on here regarding the club.

I only used the word profiteering to describe the thing about the signed shirt. I'd think it was wrong for them to charge the OSC the RRP of a shirt (it'd end up in a box at the end of the season anyway, or at the very best sold off for a tenner) to be given away as a prize, but charging £100 for one? That's going beyond covering costs that's profiteering. That's what you'd charge if you were selling one to a stranger you don't give a **** about.

It costs £100 to buy a signed shirt from the club shop, if the OSC were told they could have one as a raffle prize, but where then charged the normal price, I'd suggest it was a **** up rather than any sort of deliberate plan to screw the OSC.

I'm not saying anyone's conspiring against the OSC in particular, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't an accident or mistake, it seems this is the system now: nobody gets anything for free. As I said in the initial post on this subject, it isn't the only instance, there are several very similar stories.

I'm not questioning the penny pinching, it's a reality, I just question if that particular example is anything other than a ****-up.

Now I've had a night on the lash and time to calm down, I must apologise to Barmby and co. I don't want him sacking, but yesterday was utterly dreadful. I'm going to ring in the morning and suggest refunding for Portsmouth tickets as there was hardly even a reaction yesterday, and nick said he was proud of that bollocks. Well I say suggest, I really mean request.
