De Ridder is an impact player IMO, I love Guly + Chaplow, but feel Guly is much more suited to the right hand side, whereas Chaplow is better box to box through the middle.

Seemed to work well until November ;)

Got to be Guly. If I remember rightly he's got at least 1 goal and maybe 2 assists? Goals win games and that means points. Chaplow second. De Ridder ain't going to make it for me. Quite a selfish player from the cameos I've seen.

Nope Guly always drifts in far to much, causing far to much pressure on Richardson. Guly plays much better behind Lambert. Then when we haven't got the ball dropping into CM.

Alas we all have differing opinions. I wonder if Bayern/Holland fans think the same about Robben or Man U about Ashley Young or.........the list goes on :)

Each to their own though. Nothing wrong with having different opinions :)

Ashley Young is over rated tbh. Having been to all but 3 Saints games home/ away, I just feel Guly works better in the hole.

In the ideal situation with everyone fit and up to match speed its Chaplow for me the team were buzzing prior to his injury. But with DeRidder ,Punch and Guly most teams at this level would envy those four in the squad for one position. The mention of Falque earlier in the thread makes me wonder he was only brought in when Punch was awol and Chaplow was injured probably a good young player but Adkins is obviously not prepared to risk him at this stage and that is probably wise given the tried and tested players now all fit and present

Beef, I haven't checked the stats, but as a ST holder I am convinced that he played most games (especially at the start of the season) on the right of midfield. So, how has that not worked. Over a season where he has played most games on the right of midfield, we are top and he has scored loads of goals. I even recall one game (Derby, maybe or Burnley) when he went back to play RM and him and Fraser looked incredible together. To say he leaves Fraser exposed, seems a little short sighted, becasue if any wide player in our team was to be criticised for leaving a fullback exposed, then I'd have thought Adam Lallana may have got a mention. The truth, I believe, is that people just don't see what Guly does for the team. I am sometimes one of those people, however the one man that matters, sees something we don't always see.

I'm not saying he isn't frustrating, I just don't think your statement is backed up by facts.

At home I would favour Guly, away Chaplow and SDR as the impact sub

Once the promotion situation is clear, give Calum Chambers a good run. Can only do the lad good.

He still works best when he has a free role or behind the striker. Look at him yesterday, soon as De Ridder was on Guly upped his game as he didn't have to try to track back. Where have most of Gulys goals come from?, that's it when he was in the box.

Lallana is far more of a threat then Guly is running down the wing. Yes he leaves Fox exposed aswell but makes up for it with his crossing etc. I just don't think you can have two very attack minded wingers specially away from home. Guly works better when he hasn't any defencive duties. (Yes he helped out yesterday I saw that).

I'm not a Guly basher at all, bar from the odd game were he has played ****. But that is all part of playing football.

Guly for me but wouldn't be worried if any of them started, I think they all give us something different. I think we can safetly say that the right wing is not a problem for us and to think we were worried when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin left.

I take on board your post above and it's fair enough, but you did say that playing him RM hasn't worked ... well it actually has a lot of the time.
