Guly gets a definite NO from me. This is by no means a Guly 'hate' post, I just believe we have better options. Chaplow was superb before his injury, and if he can find that form again he wins hands down. Puncheon is a brilliant player (although) hasn't shown his form since returning from QPR. De Ridder was supposed to 'tear this league apart' when Adkins first signed him, but he has been fairly incosistent, but is starting to improve with the final ball. Guly for me, is too incosistent. One game great, the next unbelievably frustrating. I remember on solent radio on Saturday he headed clear a late delivery, had he not, they may well have scored. So well done for that. But, in reality you don't win a starting place for good performances now and then, which is why I would like to see Punch, Chap or Ridder given a go.
I'd also like to add that Guly worries me when I see his name in the starting line-up as his defensive side of the game is poor. Underlining the reason for not playing him RM. Just look at the way the skates equalised against us late on, poor defending from the brazilian. Up front or on the bench.
Steve De Ridder offers us something we don't have a lot of.. Pace. Would like to see him given a good run in the side. I think people still judge him on that failure to deliver the ball in the last minute against Blackpool (just as people judge Guly based on that conceeded goal against Pompey) but had it been anyone else on the right, the defender would of retained possession and had one last chance to lump it in our box.
Guly for me but I would like to see Falque given a chance at some point. Harsh to judge him on what was a very poor team performance against Leicester.
