We all thought this was covered, but Chaplow hasn't been putting the performances in since his return, De Ridder doesn't seem to get starts, Puncheon blows hot and cold and Guly gets lost out there

So who would you pick and why?

I would personally go for Puncheon as I feel a consistent run in the side will do him good

Chaplow, provides much more off the ball than on it which is more important imo. We have ball players in other areas of the pitch, his real asset is his work rate, reading of the game without the ball and dynamism. How often is he the outlet bombing forward? nearly all the time!

Guly without a doubt. I know he drifts inside and makes us look narrow at times but he is a very good player. I remember he completely bamboozled a couple of Forest players on the wing in the build up to one of the goals in the 3-2 win at SMS.

Primarily I'd be picking Guly, but it really does depend on the opposition and/or whether we're playing home or away.

The problem is that it takes players like Chappers and Punch a couple of games to get up to speed, it's a luxury we don't have at the moment, they have the quality but there is no on/off switch that brings them up to the required level instantly.

Guly. The formula has worked more than it hasn't. He frustrates me sometimes, but Nigel knows what he's doing and so even when I don't see what he'ss contirbute, i trust that Nigel has.

Chaplow when he is fit for me. Love his energy and work rate, and he can pick a pass

Playing guly on the right of mid doesn't work. I would give De Ridder a go.

De ridder isn't up to it. No more than an impact player at this level.

Puncheon then, anyone but Guly. He drifts in far to much causing Richardson problems, Guly is far better playing just behind Lambert.

Would've said Chaplow before today's game but have to have a rethink now.
I have come to the following indisputable conclusion:
Chaplow vs good teams away
De Ridder vs Bottom half teams at home
Guly vs the rest

From Nigel's latest interview it seems he values Guly for his defensive abilities in last ditch sitations. He apparently put his head in where it hurts today.

Pompey?

Sadly half the crowd still have it in for Guly over that goal. It's been building ever since to where we are now, which is people in the crowd who criticize his every touch. They were very vocal
today because he was so involved.
Personally I think he lacks that strikers instinct, he tried to play on the shoulder of the defenders but got caught onside.
Based on recent performances I say Guly to start as Chaplow was woeful today and Puncheon was shocking against Leeds. De Ridder is good from the bench and made a good impression again today, but we struggled to get the ball to him to take on the full back
