Adam Lallana imo is the best player in the championship and one of the most technically gifted english players. His ability with the ball at feet is great to watch and everytime he gets the ball he is a constant threat to the opposition. That said I do think that Lambert is more deserving of this award, because as well as his goals Rickie is a key part of how we play. How many times have we heard from the opposing managers about Lambert just being an aerial threat. I believe this season that Lambert has shown much more than this and with a bit more pace he would be a complete forward; he can hold the ball up, he brings others into the game, he has one hell of a shot and is great in the air. With 20 goals and 9 assists Rickie gets my vote.

You say Lallana doesnt deserve to be nominated because he's been inconsistent. Well, what was Matt Phillips doing at the start of the season? Not a lot is the answer. 2 starts in the first 2 months of the season and a handful of sub appearances. No appearnces in October and 1 sub appearance in November (may have been out on loan) He started making a significant impact only in December when he had a stormer against Saints. Lallana started excellently and did have a dip in form but every player has a dip in form (well, maybe not Messi) but he is a big reason why we are at the top end of the table and deserves to be
nominated

Exactly last season our form without him was relegation and with him top of the league it may not be quite the same now but make no mistake he is a hugely hugely important player for us.

Depends what you define as "skill"

If its dribbling then - Ashley Young, Chamberlain, Matt Jarvis

Passing - Wilshere, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes sure there are many more that I cba to think of now

Those would be the 2 main "skills" I would associate with players like Lallana and Johnson, ie wingers who cut in

Flair,skill and finnese.

100% agree with this.

Has anyone seen the shortlist for manager of the year in the football league? I would say that is a bigger ****ing joke than the players one. The three nominees are

Dougie Freedman - can make a case for him, but unsure of top 3
Gus Poyet - hmmmm
Lee Clark - again could make a case but feel there are stronger contenders

I can't speak for players of other clubs in the league, as I haven't seen enough of them to judge, but I doubt if there are any other players in the league that would've given me as much pleasure as Rickie and Adam have. Rickie is at the peak of his powers now and has shown an unbelievable level of consistency of performance, whereas Adam has occasionally dipped from his high standards, but he is still growing as a player and his time for awards will come.

Oh wait ignore this <laugh> its not manager of the year, its an award that "acknowledges those leaders that orchestrate generation defining moments for their club and its fans"

Gus Poyet is the best manager in the world <laugh>.

Ahaha Lee Clark? I'm glad Huddersfield realised what the
Media can't, unbeaten runs mean jack if you don't win enough and if u loose the one game which matter(playoff) with the resources he's had he's underperformed.

lee clark the ultimate nearly man <laugh> absolute joke that he is nominated and yet two managers who achieved promotion instead of his side weren't. One of those managers then led his team to a higher position in a higher league than lee clark managed too.

Also phillips is vastly overrated, especially by Holloway. People believe too much of the hype surrounding players created by the media.

Exactly.

I don't post anything that I hope people will read and agree or digest with, Your all my friends we are Southampton but I like debate and a difference in opinions.

Lallana should not be in the top 3 players this year.

Lambert- winner
Whits- cardiff runner up
Phillips- third place.

Young player.
Phillips
Lallana
Zaha or however u spell it.

My opinion.

Sorry.. what? You insult Lallana for being a bit of flash and tricks, and being inconsistent, then name Zaha one of the best young players in the league? One of three possibilities:

A) You're an idiot.
B) You're misinformed.
C) You're on the wind up.

Would everyone please stop licking the arse of Matt Phillips. He's not all that. Lallana, on the other hand, is all that. He is the ****.

**** you twat explain why instead of talking **** like this with all the stars you ****.

woah calm down mate, don't need to get like that do we?

Do we really need the personal insults on here? Its an online forum, for decent discussion, if I wanted to see people throwing insults at each other, I'd go watch some chavs in the local estate

So the man who's taken a club from league 1 near the bottom 3, to top of the championship isn't rewarded... and yet the following are.

Freedman - how many promotions has he got? what the hell has he done beyond keep Palarse in mid table? he's a nothing burger, lower league scum.
Poyet - won league 1 but done nothing in the championship, again... he hasn't done better than adkins, why are the media so up his arse? ''oh we love poyet yes we do we're going to talk about brighton and how much we love them... forget that SOUTHAMPTON ARE TOP OF THE ****ING LEAGUE''
Lee Clark - he got a load of draws in a row and still won nothing, he failed with all of udders money.

scum, absolute scum... Adkins could win us the league but all the media darlings will be too busy ****ing over some mid table managers who have DONE NOTHING, **** ALL, WHO THE **** IS DOUGIE FREEDMAN?!

Adkins has led generation defining moments, much more than that dirty little mexican Poyet.
