Tbf though, you can't exactly be surprised at being met with a fight or confrontation when what you originally post comes across quite heavy handed and abusive (there wasn't any need to swear in putting your point across). But putting that to one side, I actually agree with your point. I was very surprised to see Lallana nominated. Ability wise he is easily in the top 3 performers in the division, but his form this season ( or more accurately, over the winter) doesn't warrant selection in my opinion. Lambert and whittingham were clear, obvious and correct choices however. Think i might have gone for snodgrass or maybe vaz te as my second option (again, based on form this season alone - i dont for example think vaz te will continue to have season's like this one).
Cheers chap. I think you can write whatever you want on these forums as long as you can accept criticism and back up your own stance. Unfortunately writing on a forum sometimes does not come across the way you want it too, as say...being down the pub with your mates. You don't really know who your talking too here and different people will have different levels of tolerance to what you say. Keep posting as you do bud. At least your creating something interesting for me to read.
wow, at the end of the day just remember this folks. we're on the same side, we're on the same siiiiiidddddddeeee we are southampton we're on the same side!
Exactly. I don't post anything that I hope people will read and agree or digest with, Your all my friends we are Southampton but I like debate and a difference in opinions. Lallana should not be in the top 3 players this year. Lambert- winner Whits- cardiff runner up Phillips- third place. Young player. Phillips Lallana Zaha or however u spell it. My opinion.
Chaplow a bigger player than Adam now Thats got to be a joke! I swear he has barely started 10 games this season. Adam is integral to our performance it's more than just his tricks his ability to keep and move the ball on is vital he has had dips of form but even in his dips he's still a good player. When hes on song he is the best player in the division by a mile.
Me too,but this is a forum where everyone's entitled to their own opinion and we must respect their views.
I'm not getting invovled in this debate. the only thing that puzzles me is why not have this award at the end of the season? any of said players in the shortlist could get injured tomorrow and be out for the rest of the season. should do this kind of stuff after the lst league games played in my oppinion (last league game as in play-off final)
Thank you disagree if that's how you feel. I like somebody who challenges my post because they have a different opinion that's why we are on a forum.
Depends what you define as "skill" If its dribbling then - Ashley Young, Chamberlain, Matt Jarvis Passing - Wilshere, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes sure there are many more that I cba to think of now Those would be the 2 main "skills" I would associate with players like Lallana and Johnson, ie wingers who cut in
I know he's been sensational recently, but before his hat-trick in the FA Cup at the start of 2012, hadn't Phillips scored only once in about a million games? He was even loaned out to Sheff Utd in the autumn I think. Now granted I can't comment on his overall performances, but if Lallana gets discounted for not having performanced all season, then I think the same should apply to Phillips. He just happens to be the 'in' man at the time of this discussion (although I do happily accept that he is a quality player - but so is Lallana)
You say Lallana doesnt deserve to be nominated because he's been inconsistent. Well, what was Matt Phillips doing at the start of the season? Not a lot is the answer. 2 starts in the first 2 months of the season and a handful of sub appearances. No appearnces in October and 1 sub appearance in November (may have been out on loan) He started making a significant impact only in December when he had a stormer against Saints. Lallana started excellently and did have a dip in form but every player has a dip in form (well, maybe not Messi) but he is a big reason why we are at the top end of the table and deserves to be nominated
