So, nobody knows what their requirement is, short term panic fix, because thats all Harry is at 65 and a medical issue. They may well want some long term stability i.e. a younger man. I have already shared my thoughts on the matter - it shouldn't be hard to find them.

I will add to my previously posted view however. If the FA offer Redknapp the job and if Redknapp decides he wants it it isn't Redknapp or the FA that will decide the matter, it is Daniel Levy who will decide if Redknapp can take the job or not. Levy, however, has already demonstrated his commercial, business and sporting acumen and if Redknapp is appointed England manager then Levy will have a replacement lined up who will be better than Redknapp, not worse. So if I were a follower of any of the lesser clubs in the PL who were hoping for yesterday's events to have a negative impact on THFC Plc I would be very worried, very worried indeed.

Without doubt (sorry for the hiatus I have been at work) although it is not as nailed on as some folk would like us to believe. I was just pointing out that there is no way they could be talking to him yet, not without first approaching the club.

As a scouser, can I say, I would laugh myself silly if 'arry took the England job, but as a realist, he would be mental to do so!

His loyalty is as dodgy as his tax returns, given the fact that he was happy to flit between Pompey and Southampton.

The question is, is it feasible to think Spurs can win stuff? Yes they will probably get top 4, but it is unlikely they will get the title away from Manchester, and while the FA cup is still on, it is not a cert. I think talk of Spurs winning the champions league next year is fantastical. So lets be realistic, as an England manger, you go down in the history books, no matter how much you balls it up, and since he has been a journeyman, he will never be a legend at any one club, and he doesn't have the time to build a legacy at spurs. If he wants to be remembered, he will need to take the England job, so the question is, will he follow his ego or not?

Does Redknapp have what it takes to be England manager?


I'm not sure he does to be honest. He is clear favourite but what has he actually achieved at club level and does he have the experience? He's managed two small midtable London clubs and got them punching above their weight and left Portsmouth to FA Cup glory before bankrupting them but we're talking about a guy with almost no knowledge of the continental game.

I don't support England so couldn't care less but I think Roy Hodgson would be the perfect candidate, he can speak numerous languages and has forgotten more about International Football than 'Arry will ever know.

I wouldn't blame Redknapp for leaving. It's a big opportunity to move on to bigger and better things that can't be passed up. Sol Campbell understood this before he joined Arsenal but I fear Redknapp is stepping into the unknown and way out of his comfort zone.

Managing a couple of small midtable London clubs doesn't necessarily mean you will hit the ground running at international level. They'd be much better off appointing someone who has at least had experience of managing big clubs in England and has experience i.e Mourinho, Wenger, Hodgson etc.

Honestly though I don't think old 'arry will leave Spurs in the form they're currently in. I think Stuart Pearce will be the caretaker manager until mid may and then 'arry will take over from there. Whether he'll be a good manager or not is the real question, personally I think the England job requires good man management and motevational (sic) qualities, both of which 'arry has in abundence (sic).

Redknapp is not good enough for England

He failed to get Spurs in the top 4 last season with a good Spurs squad in a very weak Premiership
when Liverpool were in meltdown and Arsenal/Chelsea were at their weakest for 10 seasons.
He has won nothing.
He struggles to win the games for Spurs
He has never had a massive job (Spurs are big but hardly United, Milan, Chelsea etc ...he has never worked a high-pressure European club where coming fifth is success).
He has limited experience of European football (last match 0-5).
He has baggage.

To be completely frank. I can see no way that Redknapp is going to turn it down if he's offered the job. I can understand that Spurs fans don't want him to go, especially given the circumstances. I would be livid if John Terry was indirectly responsible for Wenger leaving Arsenal. But all the signs point to Harry Redknapp being the next England manager.
