All fair points but miss the key factor...money.

Spurs do not pay the wages that will attract and keep a world class manager or striker. You've got a good side no doubt but a lot of that is down to luck. Bale was an average full back and now a world beater, on the wages you pay how long will you be able to keet him? Same with Modric. He gets paid pocket money compared to players of similar quality but you tied him to a long term deal so you're ok with that one. However the probelms you are having with Adebayor sums up why as it stands you wont be able to compete long term unless FFP really does have an effect which to be frank...remains to be seen.

Further take say Torres and Carroll. Marquee signings don't always work out and Spurs don't have that much money that they can spend 30 million on a player and it not work out.

2 years ago we won the double. Look how quickly things can change. Word of warning...don't get too cocky.

  4. You've conveniently ignored my comment about our new stadium and the fair play rules.

Each of these will remove any advantage you currently have, of being able to bribe players to remain at your club.

Our new figures would suggest that we are on track, although the caveat is that we won't be splashing out as much as we have...

Our losses have reduced at £67.7m, and appx 50% of that is money paid to Ancellotti and Porto for AVB and also includes the £75m we spent last Jan...

FFP is based on 2012-2014 so let's see...

What's 'bride'? Does that mean marrying players to keep them?!?!?

No I didn't, as I say, there is yet to be any proof that FFP will actually have any effect. Clubs will find ways around it or a blind eye will be turned to things like Madrid selling their training ground to the government for a silly amount of money or City and their naming rights 'deal'. Anyway Spurs are a club a long way off from benefitting from FFP cos they have no global appeal. Arsenal and Liverpool are the clubs with the most to gain. 2 clubs currently behind you.

As for your stadium. A few drawings doesn't make a stadium. That is a way off yet. Anyway I thought the reason you tried to get the Olympic site is cos Levy said WHL redevelopment was no longer viable...or was that yet more bolloxs from Levy???

We also have a much better crop of youngsters coming through than Spurs...and if we have to give them a chance rather than spend millions we will still be ok eventually.

Now taking quotes off Hansen <laugh>

If we beat United at home (which we normally do) then the gap is 4 points and when you lose to Liverpool at Anfield on a cold Monday Night (which you will) it will stay like that with us still having to play you at home.

Enjoy your slender advantage while it lasts, I actually thought you'd be 9 points ahead of us at this stage <ok>

That's the problem with these Spuds they are so delusional they have no perspective.

We have just played Swansea AWAY, you know that place where only one team has one all season and when Spuds and Arse got murdered for near enough 90 minutes.

Swansea Away vs Wigan at Home.

Honestly if we beat United at home on Sunday and that's a big if finishing 3rd will be a piece of piss IMO.

It just shows the gulf between us/Arsenal and the spuds. Finishing above us and arsenal would be their biggest achievement in 20 years where as we are disappointed if we don't win a trophy.

  14. Oh, dear! You haven't really looked into this, have you? If you had, you wouldn't have embarrassed yourself so readily.

Levy's beef was with Haringey council, who were extremely good at making all kinds of threats, but not very good at discussing regeneration in a meaningful way. Anyone who knows Tottenham knows that it's an absolute ****-hole, and certainly not the kind of place you would want to spend £400 million building your new state-of-the-art stadium. Not unreasonably, Levy has always insisted that Haringey council makes a written commitment to invest serious money in regenerating the area, before we make any commitment to stay. Levy is not a man to make threats lightly, and when the council continued to bugger us around, we made our bid for the OS, to show Haringey that if they didn't pull their collective finger out pdq we'd up sticks and away. I doubt that any true Spurs fan would want to leave North London. Well, the council has recently made its written commitment to invest significant funds in regenerating the areas adjacent to where the stadium is going to be built, in Northumberland Park.

In short, Spurs are staying put!

  16. You're the one talking about reeling us in (from 5 points to 7 points) <doh>

It's small club mentality. For small clubs like Spurs it's all they dream of. Even West Ham have more ambition <ok>

2 of their last 3 games have been at home to the teams 19th and 20th in the table and they couldn't even win both of them.

3-1 to Wigan at home is actually a poor result IMO, as is 1-1 vs Wolves. And we all know how easily they got found out against top class opposition (City).

Us and Spurs actually have similar fixture lists from now till May

    Both have:

    Arsenal (Away)
    Everton (Away)
    Liverpool (Away)
    United (Home)
    Villa (Away)

etc. The difference is we can hold our own against top/decent opposition (unlike Spuds) and that is why I believe we will finish 3rd. Obviously we would need to beat United on Sunday to keep that possibility open but 3rd is far from out of reach.

City and United will begin to pull away IMO and it will be a three way tussle for the two remaining spots.

Spuds are facing injuries for the first time really this season, meanwhile our absentees are coming back. Three weeks from now we'll be back to near enough full strength with a decent run of games. If we beat Birmingham we won't have to face City till April or May which IMO will help because we have a tough March in terms of fixtures.

    You're clueless.

Your last three games have been

Wolves (H) - 1 away win all season and 19th, no wins in 7
City (A) - 1st and won all home games thus far, you'd expect a loss
Wigan (H) - 20th having lost the most away games in the Prem

Our last three have been to:

Sunderland (H) - Unbeaten under MON
Norwich (A) - Only Arsenal, WBA and Spurs won there all season
Swansea (A) - Only United won there all season

Anybody with common sense would have expected Spurs to walk out with no less than 6 points and Chelsea to realistically walk out with no less than 5.

4 points from those 3 games is atrocious considering two of them were at home to what are the worst two teams in the Prem atm. We faced tough opposition in all of our games and only conceded 1 goal to your 5.

    Boy I can't wait till May <ok>

From earlier on in this very thread.

Would you take 4th place if offered now? or are you that confident of getting 3rd??

  20. What? You mean like us thrashing 'Pool 4-0, beating the Gooners, and drawing against your mob?

See where your argument lets you down?
