Yet more reports of a potential Carroll return and I myself have often dismissed it as lazy journalism, but could there be something in it? Local reports say we have money set aside should a player become available that we consider worth the outlay, and we would only be paying around half the money to take him back. Also Pardew has stated he would welcome him back and we are apparently now looking at strikers again. Some obvious issues in the way though, namely:

1. Would Ashley sanction a 15m + deal?
2. Will Liverpool let him go, especially as Suarez is only just starting his ban?
3. Is the risk too high? He is on a bad run of form.
4. Would he take a wage cut to return?
5. Would fans accept him?

To be clear, I actually think the story is bullshit, but for the record I think each obstacle could be overcome.

1. Reports suggest we would sanction an expensive deal if we consider it to be worth it. And the total profit from Carroll alone would still stand at £15-20m
2. Liverpool will have Suarez back shortly, and the fee they would receive would pay for a move for someone like Bent, who they have been linked with and would suit them far better.
3. We (and Ba) play our best football with a target man in front of Ba, regardless of how much better we are than last year at playing it on the floor. Not to mention he looks unmotivated/uninterested at Liverpool and returning could inspire a return to form.
4. I think he would, yes. It's down from 70k to 50k, he can live with it.
5. Yes, in time. Football fans are ridiculously fickle and I include myself in that. If Carroll came back and scored 10 goals all would be forgotten by 90% of the fanbase.

So 2 questions. Is it even possible, let alone likely? And would you like him back?

And here come the links. Understand there's v. well briefed reports in Sun & Times saying #nufc want Andy Carroll back...If price is £15-20m

To be fair: Alan Pardew has already gone on record as saying exactly what is in those papers.

The rumours are scaring me and they're gaining momentum.

Just don't understand why the **** we would spend so much money on that bellend. He's not worth that much and if it happens it most probably means we'll lose a technically more gifted player , Demba Ba (Who has been officially approached in Africa by PSG according to various sources on twitter).

I hate January.

Come off it man, local media know what actually happens and no one has even enquired. I think I know who you're on about as the source and the other day he was saying Kalou on the plane to London to sign for Arsenal.

Is it possible?
It's football, so anything is possible although I very much doubt it will happen. Llambias made some strong comments about Carroll when he left and Carroll was accused of all sorts by the board. Also, I very much doubt we will fork out £15m for him.

Would I like him back?
I wouldn't be totally against it, if he came back I would quite look forward to him banging them in again and playing with passion he used to. But, if he didn't come I wouldn't be bothered and he wouldn't be my number one priority.

Him and Ashley both provide proof that scamming Liverpool of £20m was their plan all along
He cuts his hair
He stops being a ****
He starts scoring again

Then I'd take him back. The odds on all that happening are quite low though

He was very, very good for us. If he could replicate that form for a 15milish profit, I would have him back definately.

Come off it?

I'm just reporting what I'm reading on Twitter...

Some African reporter who is (supposedly) reliable and Mark Douglas of the Sun seemed to agree with it.

And even if he was approached by PSG , means absolutely nothing.

Just got a "Pinky and the Brain" image in my head! Ashley as the short, fat, savvy one and Mandy as the tall, lanky, thick one who just goes along with the plan <laugh>

Why would we sell Tiote/Ba just because we bought Carroll?

I dont really want him back, I think he's went backwards and even though he would probably do well for us, would Liverpool admit to such a failure after just a year?

As in getting worked up over twitter. I saw Mar Douglas reply to one guy who started a rumour saying there had been no bids/enquiries a few hours ago, dont know why it would have changed.

Because it's Ashley , needs to make money from somewhere.

If Mandy signs (permanent) and we don't sell any of our star players I'll change my profile pic to anything anyone wants.

What would make Ashley buck the trend of his tenure? He will be looking to profit.
