I don't think having Carroll would force us into playing 'hoofball'. It just means you have to put a lot of crosses into the box, which has nothing to do with how the ball is played out of defence.

Andy Carroll is a far superior player to Leon Best and could easily replace him in the current side.

All this bullshit about Carroll being a target man for 'hoof-ball' is laughable.

Do England play that way? Did we when he was here? Not as much as some of you are suggesting.

I would have him home in a shot. <ok>

Exactly.

With Ba and Carroll up front, we will be great in the air, crosses can be flying in for them to get on the end of. People forget, he's got a deadly left foot on the lad. I think he actually misses the toon. When playing for us, he was playing with passion and pride, for the team he's always supported. @ Liverpool the fire in his belly has gone and he is on the bench as a consequence.

I would have him back too!

But variables have changed, the wage he picks up now at Liverpool and the buy back price would be steep also. But i'm sure MA can con the bin dippers again <laugh> Taking candy from a baby..!

Carroll is an absolutely crap footballer, needs the team to centre around him and is nothing more than a big targetman.

Mind you when he was with us he used his physical strength to create opportunities for others, had good ball control and if he was switched on had a great workrate. He's **** now though. Unless he came back for say, £10m. He'd be class then. <ok>

So if things are as blunt as they are in that we are not going to look at a striker in the jan window then that takes us to the summer... that means we have been looking for this Carroll "replacement" for a year and a half... fair enough we can point out Ba, yeah hes done fantastic, but who could have foreseen his form. its just played right into the boards hands with this one, i get the impression they don't think players can get injured. we need more than ba in our squad.

i find these comments today hard to take, does anyone really think we only had 1 target, as our scouts of late have shown some complete lack of ability you know.. with the dross like cabaye and tiote. its a load of bullshit and excuses

we have relied on Ba hes dragged us along the past month or so, with out him we would be nowhere near the position we are. hes gone for a while now and we have nobody who can offer what he has.

when the CB search comes are we going to have 1 target? and then that might not work out so then we are all out of options.

i honestly fear our good start means very little investment in the team for the foreseeable future.

im not saying we should spend big but we need to spend.. we need to bulk out the squad, otherwise another patch of injury's will see our season go off the rails

post rant question...

Dunno if its been posted cant be arsed to read the thread, but would anyone chance a loan offer for Torres?

if we could get him in the worst case scenario is just the same as not getting anybody in for cover, best case is he gets game time, less pressure, and gets some goals for us, i think its bound to come for him soon so if it is this season i wouldnt mind if he came here

He doesn't remotely resemble the player he used to be, like you said, he displayed real passion, had amazing workrate, he was incredibly fun to watch play. Now he just looks frustrated and embarrassed on the pitch, and clearly wears the weight of expectations on him.

To all the people saying he's better than Best, correct, but definitely not better than HBA who will in time be picked every game when fully fit.

Permanent yes, loan no. He'll come good soon but I don't fancy being the team that wastes a striker spot for a while on getting him slowly back up to scratch only for us to give him back to Chelsea when he starts tearing the league apart again.

Just a though, so try not to hange me :)

What if we got him back at a hugely cut price and he instantly started scoring again?

"Here's the plan Andy; we're gonna flog you for an absolute fortune!"
"What?!?!?!"
"but, when you go you just play like utter garbage and then we get you back at a cut price. It's good for the club!"
"If you say so gov, but I'd rather stay"
etc..

Or he's a money grabbing gypsy who built a reputation on Nolans passing and Bartons set play.

Top one would be cool though

<laugh> we've all had a day dream of this scenario I'd imagine.

Id take him back in a second, was gutted when he left (although in hindsight great business etc etc) and some people seem to forget what a cracking player he was for us. Him and Ba up fron would terrorise defenses.

Never gonna happen though.

mind you maybe we could kidnap him this friday and just leave a large block of wood with hair in his place. doubt the scousers would notice

I disagree that it would be embarrassing for all parties. It would be embarrassing for Liverpool for paying mega money and selling him on for half the price back to the team they bought him off. It would be embarrassing for Carroll as he would basically be saying I made a mistake and shouldn't have left. However it would be amusing for Newcastle. We have a player for a few years who fires us to the Premier League and then helps us stay up in the first year and receive £35 million for him and we then sign him a year or so later for half the price...that would be hilarious not embarrassing for us, especially if he recaptured his form at the start of last season!

I would take him back as long as he wasn't on massive wages and for no more than £15 million. Him and Ba up front could be lethal as long as we wouldn't play hoof ball.

I agree with this. The world's most expensive loan move. I'd take him back for £15M, £20M profit for going on loan to a lower team <ok>

<laugh> probably. Just some tiny part of me that what to utterly deny the treachery lol (yes, I would call it that after what he said)

Seriously though, there's a whole world of strikers out there! Stuff Carroll, lanky streak of pi$$.

A million times this. Not arsed about Carroll, would much rather somebody new and exciting.

If it wasn't for ACoN I wouldn't be fussed about a marquee ST signing anyway. Once Ba and HBA begin to click (evidence has been shown they already are in the last two games) they have the potential to be a top PL strikeforce. We really should be on the lookout for back-up forwards if anything.
