Interesting Pardew stuff on a certain former number 9 in the morning. Admits he would take Carroll back to #nufc... Though no chance in Jan

    God, I wouldn't want that.

  2. Carroll is a good player when on form but I wouldn't want him. If he comes back I know we'd revert back to Pardew's gay hoof ball tactics with Carroll and Ba upfront.

I'd rather keep playing HBA and Ba.

I agree with Tash. I enjoy football, not stoke-esque hoofing it.

I think it would be embarassing for all parties involved if he came back. That's on top of the fact that a) He only really works in a direct football where a Barton-esque player provides long balls and b) He's a Judas gypsy <ok>

That little **** sold us out, of course we don't want him back. He can rot on Liverpool's bench.

Andy Carroll is a far superior player to Leon Best and could easily replace him in the current side.

All this bullshit about Carroll being a target man for 'hoof-ball' is laughable.

Do England play that way? Did we when he was here? Not as much as some of you are suggesting.

I would have him home in a shot. <ok>

Carroll scores like 3 goals with his feet, and ridiculous amounts with his head.

Wouldn't want him, because he doesn't deserve to be forgiven.
BUT, I don't think you have to play **** football to get the most out of him, I think managers (Dalglish at present) make the mistake of thinking you have to hoof it forward to him...when really you could still depend on pacey wing play and midfield passing to let him poach in the box and score from by-line crosses

I'd take him back on footballing ability but too much water has passed under the bridge and it would be embarrassing for all parties if he came back now and would still be a massive risk.

Just because he scores a lot from headers doesn't mean you have to play long balls from half to him. There's ways of playing quality technical football and still utilising headers, not to mention the fact we've been seriously toothless from set-pieces (aside from a couple direct free-kick goals and 1 headed corner)

Again, not saying I'd want him back, but I don't think because he is good with his head means you have to play Allardyce football - that's a choice uncreative managers make when they doubt the ability of their squad.

He scored more goals for us last season with his feet than his head, for all the people who believe we played hoofball because of him.

Of the 11 goals he scored for us last season, 6 were with his feet.

    (lol at title)

Got to love the way that when we had Carroll we were forever saying he was more than a targetman and could actually play football, but as soon as he leaves he was always a terrible footballer...

If it wasn't for the baggage and we had him back on form, I think he could actually play well with Ba, and would be a better partner for him than Best.

I disagree that it would be embarrassing for all parties. It would be embarrassing for Liverpool for paying mega money and selling him on for half the price back to the team they bought him off. It would be embarrassing for Carroll as he would basically be saying I made a mistake and shouldn't have left. However it would be amusing for Newcastle. We have a player for a few years who fires us to the Premier League and then helps us stay up in the first year and receive £35 million for him and we then sign him a year or so later for half the price...that would be hilarious not embarrassing for us, especially if he recaptured his form at the start of last season!

I would take him back as long as he wasn't on massive wages and for no more than £15 million. Him and Ba up front could be lethal as long as we wouldn't play hoof ball.

As hilarious as it would be to sign him back, I would hate that to happen. On principle, not ability. If you drag the number 9 shirt through the dirt like that you dont deserve another chance at this club.

His goal against Liverpool last season is one of my very favourites goals and most vivid memories from the year, despite me sitting behind the goal at the opposite end and having a **** view of it.

The circumstances of his return would dictate my willingness to welcome him back...

A lot of people talk about our brand of football with Carroll in the team and yet ignore the mobility of our midfield - Barton: slow, prefers to swing crosses from deep Vs Obertan fast, wants to beat players and get to the byline, Nolan: slow, immobile, had a nack for being in the right place at hte right time Vs Cabaye, runs more than almost any other player in the Premier League...

The fact is, with Obertan's pace and Cabayes passing, we wouldn't need to alter our style of play to play Carroll. It'd give Guti and Ober someone to aim at whilst allowing Ba to play off him (when Ba is at his best its playing off Best!)
