Oh yeah I understand that. I’m just going purely off the overall outlay it’s costing us to have him in our team. It’s a fair point but you can amortise transfer fees over the length of the contract but the annual wages go on that year’s accounts.

thats exactly what i meant
finding good players for cheap
ex prem players at english clubs will cost a fortune
Running the financial side of a football club must require a staff of three dozen finance and accounting boffins. Oh for the days when they were owned and run by the butcher, the baker, and not forgetting the candlestick maker. Little wonder some clubs 'inadvertently' lose track....eg Man Citeh!!!!
Omur £2.5m
Dowell £500k
Palmer £1m
Burstow £2m
Kamara £2m
Jacob £300k
Vaughan £200k
I don't think those are unfair sums for those players, that's £8.5m but even if it's a couple of million below then add in the wages saved and we'd make up the PSR deficit.
It’s an important three weeks and yes, taking a fee lower than we’d like might be necessary to reach the magic number that makes us compliant.I think the big issue is getting that amount of players off to other clubs in that time.
We might have to take a hit on the transfer fees so that the clubs who take the players are able to offer more in wages.
Can we not sign any players then until this is sorted?
That would set us back a bit

We are, as far as I'm aware, already in talks with Luton about Palmer and Preston about Kamara. Interest in Dowell from Lincoln and Huddersfield, Omur interest from Konyaspor and Goztepe. I'm sure we can expedite the process if we need to.
I'm sure discussions are well underway with agents and various clubs ..... but .... I don't see us getting near those figures you quote for these players. We are, as far as I'm aware, already in talks with Luton about Palmer and Preston about Kamara. Agents and other clubs will have been well aware irrespective. We all knew we would have to sell at the end of the season - and consensus was that Hughes would be off to the PL in the summer for an 8 figure fee.
But, what I don't understand is why we to be so publicly open about needing to sell by the end of the month - surely can't help negotiation to a favourable price.
Plus this has been amplified across other clubs - encouraging bitter ****s to complain that we've cheated etc.

Maybe - but does everyone always knows the ins and outs of every club's fiscal state (apart from on here of course).Agents and other clubs will have been well aware irrespective.
We'll have a job getting anything for Vaughan, he's out of contract in three weeks.I'm sure discussions are well underway with agents and various clubs ..... but .... I don't see us getting near those figures you quote for these players.

I'd reckon pretty much half of every figure quoted, bar maybe Kamara who we might get a bit more than £1mill on the back of his decent season for Portsmouth 2 seasons ago. It didn't work out for him with us, and it certainly hasn't worked out for him at Getafe - stats
In matchday squad: 22
Started 1
Sub 11
Stayed on bench: 10 (including all of the last 4 games).
Maybe Portsmouth might be temtped to make an offer, but can't see them risking much more than £1mill on him.
