Okay, if that's the case, fair enough. I was under impression your club were denying it and blaming it on an errant individual who was not acting on behalf of the club. For someone to go all the flaming way to Middlesbrough, it's a ball-aching journey from HU7, then grab a coffee in a golf-course cafe, using his own credit card, and not cash, sounds like someone who is grossly incompetent in what he was doing. Oh yeah I think we are still saying that, but ultimately whether he went of his own accord is irrelevant as he was employed by the club. If they can prove he went by himself then it will potentially make the punishment lighter. If it can be proven to have come from higher ups in the club then the punishment will be more severe, probably with those involved receiving some sort of bans
But yeah sounds like we aren’t contending that an employee from Saints was caught filming the training session, just the how and why that the tribunal is sorting out

I do wonder what the meaning is of not sacking the guy who got caught.
I imagine we will wait until our internal review is concluded, as is statutory in UK law to complete an internal review first.
But if he went on his own volition then surely that is gross misconduct.
And we haven’t sacked him yet.

I’m still struggling to believe that this was a lone wolf. On the other hand, I would think that if it was sanctioned by someone above I would like to know what they thought they would gain from iPhone footage from 150 yards. Seems a bit amateur hour.
As others have said, I think the most plausible explanation for the nature of the “spying” was just to try to establish if Hackney was training and likely to play. And if that is the case, for me it adds a bit of credence to the lone wolf stance.

I may have missed something due to the mountain of drivel in the media on this and my understanding is out of date but have Saints actually admitted doing it - they have accepted that they have been charged by the EFL and are complying with the process and quietly going about their business but won't actual guilt and punishment come out of the hearing - ie saints could "in theory" come out innocent?

I thought when the charge was first put to the club, they had accepted it but claimed lone wolf. That could be BS though along with a lot of other BS.
Better be silent and have people think you're a **** than speak out and confirm it.
They accepted the charge and the inquiry into it, without admitting or denying anything. Any other speculation has been hearsay and mischief making.
Surely Alfie House would have got his line about not contesting it directly from the club? I'm pretty confident taking that as all but fact tbh.
Be interesting to see if he repeats that on TSP later.
