Yeah there's no chance it'll actually be decided yet, I reckon the panel doesn't even sit until tomorrow.

What it could be though is what Boro are actually expecting / EFL are pushing for

Yeah. This fits for me. And lets face it - the “independent” panel appointed by efl working for the efl are clearly not independent and will conclude what the efl want. They sit on Monday - they deliver the pre agreed verdict. Saints have a chance to appeal - which they won’t and on we go to Wembley

I actually think if that’s the punishment, we may appeal, but the panel may give us 7 days to appeal.

And that rumoured punishment feels like a ‘win’ in that it’s not expulsion from the play offs, but only because that has been so bigged up by Boros propaganda machine. But realistically that seems like a ridiculously harsh fine and pts deduction IF it’s just this one case of ‘spying’. Way disproportionate to this ‘crime’ and compared to other teams rule breaking.

It is kind of odd that many Saints fans are ambivalent about promotion because of VAR! They just want the fair chance to achieve it.
On the day, they just want the best team to win, there isn't a lot between the two sides on paper, and it should be a better watch than yesterdays borefest!.

I'm betting there'll be no points deduction, just a fine. And that Boro will be sanctioned for trying to influence the outcome of a supposedly impartial investigation.
As a biased saints fan this is what I think should happen. Boro have behaved disgracefully. If it’s just the one case of “spying” I’d almost suggest their disproportionate response then becomes the worse of the two

but I’m aware of my bias

It would seem unlikely that they would increase the punishment just because we appealed. That would surely be punitive. You can’t discourage appeals in that way. So it would seem like we would appeal that kind of punishment as it seems very harsh (especially if you tune out the media hysteria)

I wonder what the Boro fans make of these new rumours

A friend of a friend who is supposedly ITK said we were expecting a £500k fine and six points. A lot of speculation out there at the moment.

As someone else has said, if it was £4.5m that’s over 20x higher than the Leeds fine, and they got no points. And didn’t they also admit to having done it all season/on multiple occasions?

Oh yeah, I'm definitely biased too; but objectively, this whole pantomime seems absurd. A bloke behind a tree with an iPhone ffs, it sounds so trivial and pathetic.

Latest from the Boro board seems to be :

- no acknowledgment of the rumours pointing to us not being kicked out
- talk that our players will sue us for breach of contract if we get kicked out and leave for free (I think spinning off a comment on saintsweb
- (Rightly) mocking some claims on SW this whole thing was an orchestrated stitch up by Boro involving the ex-Boro analyst we fired

There's no reason for Boro fans to give it any credence. The only reason some Saints fans are is because it's more favourable than the rumours about potentially getting kicked out of the play offs. People believe what they want to believe. Reality is, it's all just the rumour mill and no decision will have even been made yet.

It seems to me that with this overhyped Press interference, we don't have a chance of a fair trial, even an Independent Enqiry couldn't fail to be influenced by the hysteria.

Those claims were pretty much too huge in cheek.

I couldn’t take them seriously and don’t believe they were meant that way, were they?
