That's not a tackle though, that's assault. Stuff like that needs to be clamped down on, but so does racist abuse. Some pros and ex-pros recent comments suggest that it's still a problem and having the Suarez and Terry incidents come up so close together has prompted the FA to act decisively. It'll be interesting to see how it all pans out, to be honest. Liverpool don't seem very happy about it.
One wit on the "pool board said that Suarez & Terry haven't said anything racist and shouldn't be found guilty-huh?
I'm actually disappointed with the outcome. Clearly the FA believe Suarez is a racist and have strong grounds to believe so, not just on the word of Patrice Evra, an 8 game ban in my eyes is not sufficient. Personally I feel it should be at least half a seasons worth of games if not more. The FA need to clamp down and really set a marker for everyone out there and let them know that racism will NOT be tolerated. For f*ck sake I see the "kick racism out of football" boards and stickers near enough every week I'm at the Lane, 8 games for me is just not enough for something that the FA and the rest of the world in fact are trying clamp down on. On another side, not thinking about what the charge relates too, it'll mean we won't have to see that cheating, diving, racist, moany little c*nt on our screens for a while. Also noticed on the BBC article that he's also set to face a separate charge for the gesture he made towards the Fulham fans, lets hope it's another 3/4 games on top
I think an 8 match ban should be applauded. Many of us were calling for the FA to make an example of Suarez (and Terry), if they are at all serious about stamping racism out of the English game, and that's exactly what they have done. If Terry is found guilty of racially abusing another player, I expect the FA to hand down the same punishment. Likewise, players who purposely set out to seriously injure another player should be dealt with in equally harsh terms. I reject what that 'Pool fan argues. We should not look for the FA to be more lenient on Suarez for being a racial bigot, we should rather expect the FA to hand out even harsher penalties to players who seek willfully to injure other players, perhaps by handing down season-long bans.
Apparently the word (allegedly used) is used quite freely in South America to describe players- so he obviously feels that its ok to use it in the UK,plonker.
Not necessarily one racist comment. Evra claimed it was atleast 10 times that he was racially abused by Suarez, if there was evidence for that it seems entirely reasonable. I said on the Liverpool board awhile back that if it was the only the one occasion that the FA could prove then perhaps some benefit of the doubt could have been used and a big suspended ban for if Suarez was proven to be lying by repeating the offence.
Also, the "paltry fine" is, I believe, a representation of the money, time and effort it has taken the FA to charge and find him guilty. Really it should be Liverpool handing out the big fine.
Marvellous. Can we then hand him a further 5 match ban for being the most hated player in the EPL since Ronaldo took his ego off to Madrid?
We're at Anfield on Monday, 6 February, within the scope of the Suarez ban (even without the FA loading on further bans for his other idiotic behaviour). Bearing in mind that Suarez is the one 'Pool player that we would all probably have feared the most, he has given us a tremendous advantage over them, in that match. Thank you, Suarez
Actually, I think a more fitting punishment would be for the FA to force Suarez to take over as Steve Kean's assisstant manager. Have you heard the rucus their lot are making at the mo?!! They'll be burning effigies of the poor man next! Proper lynch mob!
Kean's been a bit unlucky with the results, as Blackburn have often threatened to nick a game or at least a point, before losing. Even if he'd have been utterly ****, he still wouldn't deserve this, though. He's not done anything offensive, has he?
PNP is this related to this thread or should we discuss this separately, because from what I am reading the abuse has got out of control.
