It looks like it'll fall at a horrible time for them too, so I'd expect an appeal.
Oddly enough, he might miss 3 games against City.

Well he obviously picked up the language pretty quickly for a south american.
Lets see KK explain his way out of this one.

9. I think part of this is a direct result of the Blatter fiasco. It's the FA's way of showing the world that-unlike FIFA- racism is NOT tolerated in the English game, and I applaud them for this tough stance. The fact that it was Suarez means that Im applauding with a big fat grin on my face!

You wonder sometimes what he's got for a brain, but then again he'll get a nice break in a warm climate and what's 40,000 to him? Strip club money!

Don't think anyone will care about the fine- its the 8 games that will hurt them.
What's that saying "What goes around comes around".
Now there's pressure on Carroll!

14. Although, someone over on the Pool/Utd version of this thread made what I think is an excellent point:

- Horrific leg-breaking (often career-wrecking) tackle= 3 match ban & maybe a paltry fine for misconduct.

- One racist comment= 8 match ban & similarly paltry fine.

I'm in no way whatsoever trying to condone or belittle the implications of racism. However, IMHO some semblance of proportion needs to be introduced. Whatever that Goblin said to Evra probably hurt some feelings, but certainly didn't end Evra's entire career! The gap between the two punishments is laughable.

I've read different reports of what the actual word was, Lidls.
Negro, negrito and a few others were mentioned, but it's all unacceptable language in this country.

Suarez played in Holland for 5 years, so I'm not sure that some cultural differences can be used as an excuse.

One's a risk of the game and the other isn't.
A mistimed tackle is bound to happen, sooner or later.
Racial abuse shouldn't.

The word of Evra alone?
I was under the impression that Suarez had admitted to using it and had tried to suggest that there was an acceptable context to it.

18. You'd call this a 'risk of the game', PNP? ...

Keane's punishment? 3 match ban and £5,000 fine. Had he only called Haaland a 'Norwegian ****', he'd have received 8 matches and £40,000. Like I said, laughable.

We see so many reckless- often downright lethal- tackles which are quite plainly pre-meditated. As pre-meditated as a racist dig, in fact. Those tackles can prematurely end a player's season, his career, have knock-on effects on his entire club's season, etc. More equality and proportionality is needed in the FA's assessment of punishments.

If that's what he said I do have some sympathy for him coz in spanish it's just not racist. It's just like calling someone who is black, black. But as you say he should have learnt something from his years in Holland,oh maybe he learnt how to bite people?

We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I find it extraordinary Liverpool would expect it to be quiet enough to hear anything at the Kop end when United are involved. I suppose they'd be delighted their players were concentrating on every word said around them instead of...the game! <doh>
