I see no reason why we wouldn’t.

Why wouldn’t we want to do a deal that gets us a valuable player? Lots of clubs do those kind of deals, we’ve just never had the calibre of player to do it.
Its much less common now as they wouldnt want to give a player for no monetary value on the books and we wouldnt want to reduce the benefit of a sale - what would just end up happening is they pay full whack and then we'd buy the player off them for what they deem full value.

But more likely the team buying our player won't be the team we want to sign a replacement off so it just won't happen imo.

Aye well, even if it is a case of 2 seperate transfers to do it, the point is we could say ‘if we selling you Sadiki we want Lavia’.

If it’s 2 seperate deals so be it, it’s bargaining power.

Yeah I get what you mean, I suppose I'm just always going to stay in the opinion we should look to find value abroad - probably just me being tight.

Definitely not mate that’s absolutely the golden route.

There will come a point and there will be deals when Prem experienced or proven is the way though, mixed with the found gems.

I think people are talking about players leaving because that’s the reality of the premier league in 2026 and it’s literally our model and it won’t be changing any time soon.

If big offers come in from a top 6 side and the player fancies it we won’t step in the way, we will bank the profit and find the next gem to replace them.

Thats how you have to survive in this league outside of the rich clubs club.

I would actually get used to that if I could offer any advice at all. It’ll be easier at that point haha.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing either and it doesn’t mean we will sell a load of them too. But some of the hotter prospects will be tempted away it’s jus the reality
Twist on this for me is simply when you sell you use the additional funds to buy better and build. The aim is to be the top 6 club rather than just sell to them, getting into Europe and build the income stream further.

Do the new financials rules benefit us? I know we’ve built up a healthy PSR but does that still carry over into the new rules?! Don’t mind selling a player a summer to help build but I would hate to be gutted. Another massive summer incoming on amd off the pitch

Dont know if carries over but understand the current last until July 1st so we could see early business with some clubs needing to make sakes to comply

Not sure when the new rules take effect, but did hear something about a transition period which has a few clubs, including the visitors and Villa looking over their shoulders.
From what I gather our financial situations grading the new rules is very healthy indeed, and don’t forget about the overdraft facility (no interest on this facility)that was agreed in the Championship if needed.

Just supposing we did qualify for Europe even the minor ones would our players want to go? Yes they can go to bigger clubs, yes they can earn more money but their is a camaraderie here and the players are still young.
I would like to think the "project" that has been sold to them would mean some of them would give us another season to see how we do.

Probably dreaming and more hopeful than anything but lets see.

I think people will see whats going on here and will want to join this project,

its not flashy, but its subtle, something is forming,

even if we get the cons league europe cup, its something and a stepping stone

Also Not606 team trip to the final?
The 2026/27 UEFA Conference League final will take place at Beşiktaş Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, on 2nd June, 2027.

Wouldn’t be a bad trip that. Istanbul is stunning, the stadium is stunning too.

Aye. We take it <laugh>

Our management and transfer team are doing brilliant work and we all know it.

I often see suggestions on here saying if we sell one of our top players, Sadiki for example, we should ask for a player plus cash for him. The Chelsea lads mentioned earlier for example.
Here’s what to me doesn’t add up.
If we get a player plus cash for one of ours doesn’t that mean we are getting a player who isn’t as good (plus cash) and subsequently weakens the squad instead of strengthening it.

We are finding gems all over the place so I’d be reluctant to get somebody like Guiu (?) as a part of a deal for Sadicki.
Getting squad fillers and misfits from top 6 teams in part ex for our top players is for me, not the way to go. I’d rather get £50million for Sadicki than £25million and Guiu.

I suppose it would depend, if we sold say a midfielder but we go a defender in a position we need then replaced the midfielder from elsewhere it could work.
Each deal would have to be weighed up I guess but agree with straight swaps when obviously selling club see our player as an upgrade.
