We know Joe Walsh is ****, however he had a good game against WHU, and kept his place. Distribution is horrific, crosses slightly better than Nardi. I will be so ecstatic If we get a proper goalie in which is Patterson

I know what you mean Steels but Mbengue has had a number of yellows and completed games - this time he was just completely stupid. He has to own his ridiculous behaviour.

Why the rest of the team has go into meltdown because he is not on the pitch is beyond me - they lost the game just when a bit of time management (****housery) was all that was required.
To me the bigger question is why was no one near supporting Mbengue in the 90th min whilst 2-1 up. The guy was free if Mbengue hadn't taken him out

It's bad enough losing like that but now every time we get to injury time in the lead that's going to be haunting us. It would have been simple to press Rathbone but they just stared at him. Coventry next with our seven goal disaster still fresh in the memory...

Couple of things from yesterday:

That pitch is not fit to play nice football and swamping it with biblical sprinkers doesn't help. The ball gets caught under players feet making dribbling impossible and passing slow.

We look knackered after 60 minutes, every game.
Yesterday we were out muscled by a big team, but we were also blowing way before them and by 75 minutes were just walking.

Smyth should have scored early on, Vale seemed even slower than normal, Morgan's passes don't always work but he tries to go forward and make things happen, if you criticise that players take the easy pass which is back to the keeper.
We need a right back.

Now lets beat Cov!

Exactly how I saw it Bob, Mbengue should've been subbed, he was flying in to tackles all game and was destined for a red

How Kabore never got booked after trying to personally assault Smyth at every opportunity is another question...
You can't dislike Mbengue is a man.

But I've said it before several times: he's a league 1 player at his very best. The guy has no control, no touch, no finesse. I cannot see any way that he is better than Adamson or Morgan in that position. And Adamson and Morgan are less likely to pick up cards.

Surely now we can look at buying or loaning in that position?

Theres no doubt we need a right-sided RND. He’s level-headed, doesn’t mind getting forward and doesn’t desert his defensive duties - oh, and he’s not ours  . No idea what our aversion is to getting two proper full-backs and making do with CB’s filling in week-in week-out. It’s almost like the recruitment team are being obstinate.

Mbengue was acquired to play centre-half where he was a bit of a mixed bag to say the least but Dunne’s poor form at full-back, and generally very good form at centre-half has meant they’ve switched for good. Made sense as a CB signing given how slow our other options were. Cheap and looking good in L1 seem to be the main criteria in the business model.

The first yellow was totally unnecessary. Talked himself into the book because he’s a moron. Go and smash someone second half by all means to stop an attack if you haven’t got a yellow yet.

**** knows what we do now. Dunne at right-back and Edwards in the middle with Father Time is probably the least bad option. If he chucks Adamson or Morgan in against Coventry he needs shooting.

MBengue, when he plays, should be at CB. As I've said before, I think we should play 3-5-2, where his pace as one of the three would be benificial. Smyth could play as RWB in this formation.

Were we supposed to be 1 up front yesterday or was Vale up with him?

Either way Kone had no support after the first 20 minutes and for me was completely ineffective. By the second half he'd even given up jumping.

Yeah, I thought it was 4-5-1. Kone has been a big disappointment. Burrell would be more effective than Kone as a lone striker.

A bit harsh to say he's been a big disappointment Stroller...he's not had much to work with. If we're expecting him to win the ball (often with a ratio of 2/3:1 against him), and then hold the ball up or take on 2/3 players alone, I think we're expecting a bit too much from him.

I thought, when I saw the starting line up, that Kone would have a lot more support going forward, but in reality, Dembele, Vale and Smyth were dragged further and further back, leaving Kone completely isolated up front.

TBH, I don't like Morgan at right back he doesn't look comfortable or wise enough to play there.

He's a centre-forward with no pace, poor control and who doesn't head it. Yes, he needs support, but you've got to be able to make things happen yourself sometimes. Hopefully he just needs more time to show his best, but I think that saying he's been a disappointment up to now is fair comment.

Morgan is a midfielder, still young, still learning that position.
Playing a centre back as right back is bad enough, deciding a young midfielder can just slot into that position defies logic.
