How are Labour doing after their first 12 months

Andy Burnham could be running in the coming by-election, for a seat in Manchester.
Which could lead him to challenging Starmer.

Read they might block it directly or decide on an all BAME shortlist because that’s the most important thing right now.

Don’t get the hype to be honest or does he just sound more like a normal bloke who has done a day down pit?

I read somewhere it was too risky and that the body within the Labour party that decides wouldn't approve it. It went on to say there was a good female candidate that would serve the area better. I know the media like to get excited over it, but after I read whatever article it was it seemed that everything is not as clear cut as some might think.

Soz I forget the finer points, so not the best of explanations.

Edit: I think the body was Labour's National Executive Committee (NEC).

He's very popular up north, especially in the typical Labour heartlands seats.

He was big in the Hillsborough thing, he's got that charisma they desperately need and he's done very well as the mayor of Manchester. So really, it's hard to argue that he isn't the strongest Labour MP in the country right now.

I voted for him in the leadership race years ago, but the ****ing dopes went for Corbyn and scuttled their own ship.

The Labour party ain't the Tories and they are ****ing terrified of nasty leadership changes, especially since Labour perhaps even more so than the Conservatives is made up of extremely strong factions and unions that run the show. Starmer seems to have built up a powerful collection of followers into the leadership there and Burnham is seen as an "outsider" since he's been so focused on Manchester.

Yup, Starmer has support around him that would prevent any such move from Burnham, and Labour aint going to risk Reform getting opportunistic in the mayoralty.

I think Labour losing Manchester is the longest of shots.

I reckon the 21% Labour are polling at is entirely Merseyside and Manchester <laugh>

waiting for a pedantic prick to point out that isn't possible

At least it will give the media something to get all excited about for a while. Being miles away from Manchester I actually couldn't give a **** lol. Whoever the media like now, they will turn on later, they only big you up so it'a a long way to fall when they give you a good kicking, over some affair you had or tax dodge you done.

Looks like the Chagos bill has been pulled for now. It was suppose to be going to the Lords for debate, but Labour have now stopped it and it will return to the Lords at an unspecified date - because the Conservatives were going to table an amendment to pause it.

It should have been paused as soon as the US turned on it tbh.

Removing the incentives by changing where we house and feed them for free.
Bout as sound a plan as kiers 300 in and 1 out deal

Also... Is it wise to house hundreds and thousands of taliban/isis fighters in army barracks across the land?

I just hope the armoury is padlocked

If they wander to Crawley they’ll be desperate to get back to Kabul.

Some nice areas around there though. Sure it’ll all be fine.

This won`t last long mate, the last time we tried it some ****ing do gooder complained that the houses hundreds of squaddies and their familys had lived in for years were not good enough for illegals.

Bit like the food not being good enough in the free hotel accommodation now.
