There are plenty of neat and tidy players who are technically sound but can't consistently impose themselves and impact a game. It's those who can do that consistently who succeed.

Not saying Matazo is that, but I would reserve judgment until we've seen a bit more prior to declaring him a world beater.

Lots of folk fawned over Allahyar after his first few games but he never kicked on.

Matazo has made a promising start, and I'm excited for his return, but that's all at the moment.

Was a little bit of tongue in cheek. But I didn't need 10 games to work out if Michael Dawson was quality. Took 10 minutes.

Ömür is another one. That spring when he was still new and exciting people were amazed by him.

There's no one more new and exciting than a player who gets injured right after joining.
Omur was good in a good team though. He just isn’t a player who will carry you through those bad moments, relied on others to platform him. Matazo looked very good in a terrible team. Just because there is a situation where it’s applicable doesn’t mean it’s true

Completely forgot about Omur. Doesn’t look like he’s up to much in Turkey, although getting plenty of minutes on the pitch.

He’s another I think would flourish in this team, really quick and sharp thinking and quick feet, could see him doing pretty well in the fast counter attacks.

I think Ömür would do okay as a number 10 or right-winger in this system but he’s not starting ahead of Gelhardt or Belloumi. He’s also reportedly on £35,000-a-week. He was eager and I can’t fault his attitude but he lacked physicality and wasn’t particularly quick either. He also didn’t contribute enough in terms of goals and assists and Gelhardt has shown important that is. You can have talent but Gelhardt has backed it up with good numbers and Ömür just didn’t.

He'd be playing central so you’d be looking at him instead of Crooks or Palmer. One of those is on the naughty step and the other hasn’t really got going this season. We’d be a stronger team with Omur in it and I’m sure the goals and assists would have come. He put plenty of balls on a plate that first half season if our players could have hit a boat in a bay with a bouncing bomb he could easily have been in double figures with assists, that wasn’t on him.

The Walter era tells us nothing at all, might as well discard that.

zambrano started again and scored

maribor were 2-0 up when zambrano was subbed off in the 73rd minute
and then they conceded 3 goals

son of robert koren came on for the other team

With our limited ability to recruit if we are bringing in anything other then a defensive midfielder or defenders then our board are still clueless.

I think we could do to lean on Acun's Turkish links and see whether any of the Super Lig clubs have an unwanted overseas player who they need to ship out. Maybe they'll have a talented attacking player who is not necessarily athletic or ready for the physical demands of the English game, but is neat and tidy and available on loan for just a few dozen grand a week. Doesn't need to be an out-and-out striker, winger or midfielder; if he can just do a bit of all three that'll be fine, we'll be able to squeeze him in somewhere I'm sure. When that sort of quality is available you have to take it.

Taking a tangent from this, Lincoln is turning in man of the match performances for Portuguese top flight newbies Alverca, a phoenix club part owned by Vinicius Junior. I felt he was underused by Selles.

Sorry we’ve had them they’ve been weak , small and we’ve got two now , Slater and Amir. We need a reasonably tall strong defensive one with a reasonable skill level like Boro and Coventry have .

What was the outcome with the Moroccan lad that was in limbo with puerta?

Reda Laalaoui signed for KVC Westerlo in the Belgium League. They are owned by Acun's Turkish mate. Per Transfermarkt, Reda hasn't played a 1st team game for them, though he is the 1st team squad per the Westerlo website - he has been allocated the No 12 shirt.

Jakirovic wants a 10 and a back up keeper. Seems a bit mad to me.
The keeper bit I can understand.... where the heck they found the other back up from god only knows.,.. binned off by Rotherham.. surely he has a 10 in Geldhart unless he seems him more as an 8. when Millar Belloumi and Mcb are fit, thats his position...?... maybe he's expecting a call to say he's off..?
