we all know the person we can thank for city's promotion and high positions in the pl between september and december was sam allardyce who clearly spent the bulk of 2008 whispering in brown's ear. once he got a job we were up a creek without a paddler.

If Phil Brown is so good according to TWF and other Brown fans can they tell us which premier league club will be appointing him next.

    Does that matter?

He kept City in the Championship.
He then took us out of the Championship into the Premier League, for the first time in our history, winning at Wembley for the first time too.
Then he kept us in the Premier League, giving us wins away at Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle, and some other days I'll never forget as a City fan.
The he lost the plot a bit, but we were by no means relegated with games against Burnley and Pompey still to come who were the other relegated teams.
If we'd won these two matches we'd have been a Premier League side for another season.

Doesn't look too bad to me.

I don't see how any competent owner would leave themselves with so little options.

To be fair, Brown's record against bottom half teams was awful. We would have to have equalled our best run of the season to stay up and that was very very unlikely. Brownie was a brilliant manager for us but for a year and a half he lost, not many managers can be as bad as he was for a year and a half and not lose their job.

Do you always have to be so insulting to people you don't know? Just because you don't agree with somebody it doesn't mean that it is sensible to be rude.

Brown showed he could do it at the start of the Premier League but then he panicked and tried to be defensive with a team that was not suited to the role. He then got big headed and fell out with about half of the squad. What would be going on behind the scenes that justified this shocking behaviour?

How strange you have a problem with me being rude but not with those being rude about Phil Brown. Double standards I suppose.

How long you reckon that'll last? People liking Barmby that is.

People are fickle and Brown could do no wrong until the Boxing Day match at Man City and the team talk on the pitch. Then suddenly you were an outcast if you said he was doing a good job.

The media started all this and people reguritated whatever they wrote.

I was happy with Brown. You knew we weren't going to keep that phenominal run up all season.

How long do you think that will last? Hull City has more than it's fare share of pathetic Booers. You know the type; people who have sad little existences and who just want pull to pieces those who are a million times more successful than than they could ever be. How long before they get their teeth into Nick.

All it will take i a run of bad form and they'll come crawling out from under their rocks.

    Ed.: WOW! An echo!

youd like to think people knew that, unfortunately i think some didnt, and that was half the problem, all of a sudden staying in the league despite everybody expecting us to get less points then derby did , wasnt good enough.

Indeed, I've said it a million times before Brown was a victim of his own success, if he'd led us to mid table Championship three years in a row he'd probably still be here.

I hope fans see Nicky as one of us so will go a bit easier on him if and when we have a run of bad results

Despite the various the views expressed on this thread, many of which seem to be poles apart, I don't think there really is that much difference in people's opinions of Brownie.

I think we all agree he did a great job when he came in, he took us to new heights and he'll always be fondly regarded for doing so, but unfortunately he lost the plot towards the end. It's only the opinion on how much he lost the plot towards the end that's really the point of difference.

He didn't lose the plot, we just started performing as expected, I'm still not sure what people expected in our second season.

Some of the signings were pretty bad in the second season ie Sonko and Ghilas. Bullard was unfortunate but he did play in a few decent matches for us.

He fell out with players, he often didn't put out the best team available and his substitutions were nothing short of bizarre. For the money we were spending, we should have acquired better quality players and once acquired, those players should have played. We were playing Kilbane ahead of Geovanni and ***an as a lone striker ffs.
