Is this aimed at me? Cos if so I would love you to tell me where I said Brown's 'overall signings were good'. I merely challenged the points that Brown got us relegated (in which i was correct) and that Brown 'didn't waste more on complete rubbish' than any other manager (in which I was correct).

Seriously, we didn't have a choice. I agree completely that the season was over once we sold him (I actually said at the time that without Turner we wouldn't win an away game that season) but it wasn't something anyone wanted to do, we needed some money to pay the wages. Sunderland probably knew that which is why they got him so cheap.

yes but he should then have exposed the likes of RB/PD to the fans. Lets face it we all knew or most of us did what was going on. Turner himself has since confirmed as much and that he did not want to be a part of the Hull City Death in the PL. MT hated DufferMan and as Deano said at one of his nights ""the dressing room spirit had gone"". Alot of that was also down to brown abnd his ego. In life you reap what you soe and now Brown has got his.

What a lovely Christmas present..................................... The only way is up for the "Self Proclaimed Messiah" I would suggest a schoolgirl eleven which is about equal to his capabilities as a man manager.

Ps... But not in Hull he lowered the tone of the great City.

That’s’ right. There is something not logical in the thread here here about signings. All those has-been’s we signed somehow managed to get us near the top of the EPL and stay there up to October in that first season.

It cannot have been easy to attract young up and coming superstars to Hull, especially those with EPL experience. Wonder how much they would have cost? After all Frazier Campbell is a good example and he didn’t want to know did he? I suspect many other young would-be superstars never fancied Hull doing anything either. They had hardly heard of Phil Brown and the club had no history of doing a lot. They certainly weren’t breaking down our door. So what were we left with, players towards the of their career? Certainly so, but to start with they didn’t do a bad job.

The transfer windows play into agents and the big clubs hands, the team needed strengthening for that second season and a lot of errors were made as a bit of panic set in as we needed players who would actually come to Hull. But to say we signed all the worst players ever to play in the EPL is not right.

no but he did more to get us into a crap position than anyone else did and showed no signs at all of getting us out of the crap position.

ah! you mean he would have miraculously got us out of the crap position!

    not a chance.

i read somewhere that we would have had to equal our best run of the season to get the points we needed. struggling sides with no confidence and inadequate players and a ropy manager dont do that.

if you want to kid yourself that we would have accelerated our point acquisition rate for those last few games then you are deluding only yourself.

Of the players that got Hull City into the top 10 of the PL by December 2008 mainly considted of the players who got us promoted. McShane - Zayette - Boetang - Geovanni- King and Cousin joined the promotion winners and the subs bench was also a mix of the old and new. It was what followed from there. How Brown treated the players as the naughty step became a patio. Week by week the dressing room spirit was lost. The soul of the club was dying and that was down to Brown. Phil Brown destroyed much quicker anything that he had since built. The stats and facts dont lie do they.

tried not to get involved in this as its been done to death <laugh>
but i wish people would stop blaming him for players wages, that isnt his decision!

see harry redknapp last transfer deadline talking about cahill, he was desperate to get him, and admitted he wanted to do whatever it took!
his chairman stood strong and refused to pay what was being asked, so harry lost out!, no matter what brown was thinking we should be offering players, it wasnt his decision to sign off, or it shouldnt have been!

If you think that selling Turner to pay one months wages was justified I have to disagree. That decision alone got us relegated. I'm sure there would have been ways to raise £4 million pounds that didn't involve selling our best player for a pittance.

A manager should have a budget and he should pick value for money players. Saying wages are nothing to do with a manager is not realistic. A manager may not negotiate the deal but they should have an idea of the likely cost.

You're on the right track, but we are not in a position to know are we? I suspect only Bartlett's Bank, his accountants and maybe financial advisor would know. If the Bank tells you to sell an asset before the stupid transfer window closes because you don't have time to find another source (another loan or selling your house) I'm afraid you have to do it. A Bank loan secured on assets is just that and they can pull the plug at a days notice, believe me I know!

Now when have I heard that before? :emoticon-0112-wonde The sacking comes as no suprise, PNE would have expected to be challenging for promotion and their season up to now has been a disappointment.
