For £25-30K-a-week, McBurnie is a good signing. Anything more than that and we’re paying over the odds.
Pretty sure it's the market that's set the value.

He must want players to be amateursWhat particularly makes mcburnie a mercenary mate? No different to any other pro isn’t he
Unless you know something?
He gets injured more than Jones. Famewo gets injured more than Macca too.
He's 31 and has had 2 injuries in his career. I remember Jones having a couple back to back hamstring injuries after the promotion season too

And this is the part that gets overlooked. We might have banked the fee, but it'll be paid over a few years and that fee will fundamentally just cover the extra player we've had to sign.
This merry-go-round in defence all started in Jan when we panic signed Egan & we didn't need him. Good player and everything but won't be cheap and he's 33.
It's like you're ignoring that we also have to sign a LB too as Macca covered there fine.
Yeah, and here’s me thinking this summer would teach those at the club about spending beyond your means. Silly me.
We were always going to be bringing in a left back or 2. Giles renaissance has meant it's only had to be 1.
Giles should be moved on, he’s not good enough.
With Giles back in the frame, we didn't need to, though, especially with the embargo/restriction.
I'm far from convinced that signing someone who hasn't played in 2 years is the answer either.
Baz actually said over £3m on the new pod*He said it could eventually be worth £3m.
But if Ajayi is on more, and we've had to bring in Famewo and Williams to replace Alfie and Macca, we really haven't saved much at all.
Assuming we've got a £2m fee for Alfie, over 3 years (for example) that's £700k a year (approx) which equates to a player on just less than £15k a week. That's before we deduct any sell on fees etc for Alfie. Considering we've had to bring in an additional player to replace the 2, and Ajayi will be on more, that £2m can easily be eaten up.
I appreciate Macca's fee ain't included but it was **** all anyway.
Because of what we spent and the wages he's on, he's going to be repeatedly given chances.
We aren't going to find anyone to cover all his wages or pay anything close to what we did for him so we're a little stuck. We just have to hope he comes good. He's looked better this pre season though
We are paying over the odds because he’s also wanted by three other teams, plus if the ban isn’t lifted there just isn’t many quality striking options left for free. For £25-30K-a-week, McBurnie is a good signing. Anything more than that and we’re paying over the odds.

And normal service is resumed.Didn't even just cover there. He played half a season there and was one of the best full backs in the division IMO. Blackburn will be making mega £ on him within 2 years.
Jak is platforming him to his strengths he’ll never be a good defenderBecause of what we spent and the wages he's on, he's going to be repeatedly given chances.
