Eh?
Dublin and the Manager are working with what they can. Their aim is to get rid of the costly rubbish we've accumulated and sign some replacements that will see us win games.

The restriction is there, pointless banging on about it. The guys doing the business are working with it, end of story.

It's not pointless banging on about it, it's why we need to be smart with who we let go, and clearly letting go of a dependable, always fit option who can play at both CB and LB is something attracting criticism ffs. You seem incapable of connecting two points and understanding the relationship between them.

You went from 'there's nothing to see here, no need to panic, I saw some coaches having a beer' to 'clearly we need to raise cash so there's nothing to worry about selling players on the cheap' without pausing for breath. You seem so desperate to talk down to anyone who dares to criticise or question events at the club without stopping to think that you've done a full 180 on the issue.

4th most used player and left back in a side that nearly got relegated. Can we stop pretending not very good players are worth keeping because they are nice people?
The aim is not to be shoving poor quality centre backs into full back shirts and spending the final day praying another club don't score.

It's like you completely ignore the defensive record which is the only reason we're still a Championship club.

Get to ****. The only reason we are still a championship club is there were three teams ****ter than us, and those three teams had better form than us in the final two months.

Our defence didn't keep a clean sheet for any of the last six games of the season.
In fact, only one clean sheet in the final 10 games. 7 of those last 10 games against lower half table opposition.

So McBurnie’s had a change of heart and dropped his wage demands by about 40%? Lundstram’s taking a massive wage cut to come here because he’s black and amber through and through? I don’t buy it.

I think you're right that that seems unlikely but also Newcastle is right that it seems unlikely the EFL would let us go mental now all of a sudden.

So something has to give, but realistically the most likely scenario is that the rumour just isn't true. As always, if they were going to sign tomorrow, we'd almost certainly have known about it for a few days already. The Wednesday defender was done about two weeks ago and still hasn't signed.

That's a complicated way of looking at it to get around the fact that our goals against was top half, and also that it was only our early season form that put us in a relegation battle at all. The players and performances of the second half of the season achieved mid table form.

Cardiff had the second worst form over the last 10 games, we had the 17th best. We conceded 10 goals, only 4 teams conceded less.

We only scored 9, only one team scored less - Sunderland. Defence wasn't our issue.

Clown.

I don't get why people find it so difficult to admit that the defenders weren't the issue last season.

Fan criticism is a weird thing, the lads who came up with us have always got a daft amount for the simple reason that they were signed in L1 or for peanuts. I'd happily take another £50k Slater right now or another £100k Alfie.

But then on the flip side, I thought Pedro deserved escaped criticism despite his impact on games being really poor. You could see he was a top player but he couldn't physically do it any more and his impact on games was minimal. Considering he was meant to be on a chunk, he was a really poor signing.

This is from Fotmob and it's based on the past year but look at how bad that is.

I've had a brief look at his stats and compared it with Magennis in the Championship and well... it's not great.

The season starts in august Clown.

In fact, those three back to back victories under Walter kept us up in the end.

You're the one that brought up the last ten games. <doh>

You can cite the three games won under Walter, I can cite the three games won against Sheff Utd, Sunderland and Sheff Weds. Fact is that our points accumulated in the first half of the season had us bottom when Selles came in.

You're forgetting about Pandur, who was rightfully our player of the season, fans player of the season and player's player of the season, largely due to the sheer amount of saves he had to make and crosses he had to come out and claim. If the defence were as good as some are saying, Pandur wouldn't be getting the plaudits that he did. We survived by the skin of our teeth and were **** all over the pitch.

Pandur was pretty average towards the end of the season and let in some soft goals. His exploits and saves were predominantly first half of the season when Walter was telling McLoughlin to play as a second striker.

Oh ok, that told me.

Other than Bristol City (for obvious reasons), and Coventry City, a very attacking side, Pandur didn't make more than 4 saves in any game in the second half of the season. In the last 4 games of the season COMBINED he made a total of 5 saves with 5 goals conceded. In contrast over the first 4 games of the season he made a total of 16 saves.

Jakirovic - the jury is out. Positive signs in pre season but we've pretty much ****ed him over already in the same way we did Walter. It'll be interesting to see if we perform poorly (as we're largely expected to) whether people turn on him in the next few months.

The ones thing that doesn’t need to happen is to take anything out on this manager, Acun has to know that people are pissed off with him, not the players or manager!

By contrast over that mystical 3 game winning run under Walter Pandur made 11 saves in 3 games, with an absolutely heroic performance against QPR which sticks in everyone's mind. As I said, he was predominantly more influential in the first half of the season. If you're averaging 2 saves a game over the last ten games of the season, and even less over the last month, I'm not entirely sure you can say it was him, and not the defence, that influenced our defensive record.

Only thing that makes me disagree is the new role Daws has taken up. Why do that if we aren’t going to use youngsters

I ate a lovely bit of belly pork earlier.

Scrubbed up the outside with salt, the skin made a lovely 'snap'.

Thought this was more appropriate than the cooking thread.

Thinking about pigs liver tomorrow.

Cooked with respect it's actually better than the overdone offal that you spout.
