So McBurnie’s had a change of heart and dropped his wage demands by about 40%? Lundstram’s taking a massive wage cut to come here because he’s black and amber through and through? I don’t buy it.
They’re proven players though, proven players in the champ get at least £20k a week. That’s just modern football.

I don’t believe he’s cut his demands massively, I would much rather players of their ilk get it over the likes of Omur

Most of Estupinan goals were pinball goals.

No. People used to complain he'd scuff his shots and thats why they'd go in (a weird take), yet my point still stands regardless. We worked good chances and he took them.

I won't turn on Sergej. It won't be his fault. We're expecting a very tough season.
I will say I didn't want him to come in but, he has and nothing will be blamed on him. It's all squarely on Acun he's created all of this through hubris.

I've said pretty much the same about Walter all along, which seems to get a lot of people's backs up, despite it being pretty much the same situation (no embargo, but business done a lot later than this season). Bookmark the post though. A few losses and it won't take long for people to start on Jakirovic. It then won't be long before he's the next Tim Walter.

With a bit of luck, we won't find out if this happens and he'll find a way to succeed in some manner. As I say earlier, pre season has at least been encouraging despite the adversity.

It's not a horrific thought process to have a smaller squad of senior pros on more money and use youngsters for extra depth.

We used 37 players last year (ouch) and only 3 were academy/youngsters. That's a hell of a lot of senior pros and only 13 played more than 1200 minutes which is shocking. We've wasted a fortune on crap we've barely used.

Last I heard we offered McBurnie something like £45K-a-week and Lundstram was on £33K-a-week at Trabzonspor.

EDIT: put year instead of wage

If the EFL say yes then we are probably okay. Baz has literally said we can’t do anything without approval, they’ve already vetoed McBurnie once so if it’s as close as being made out they’ve obviously found a solution

Absolutely. I’d love it if McCarthy, Brown and TSF were used regularly enough that their value increases and they start to adapt to the level. Brown didn’t look as good against Stockport but he was still part of the best move we had in the first half. Didn’t look physically out his depth either, McCarthy, TSF and Tinsdale all had great impacts in the last 30 too

More likely nobody is offering the wages he was asking. Lundstram I have no idea but I suspect there will be some Turkish business going on there and whatever deal we are making won’t be open for other clubs to make, so we are his ticket back to England.

I don't think we're adopting that approach by the way. If you do, you need players who play big minutes and we've sold 2 players who played the 2nd & 3rd most minutes of our outfield players. And keeping Jacob and Simons make sense too in that scenario as they're cheap.

I think we've moved on anybody we've been able to get a good offer for.

Only thing that makes me disagree is the new role Daws has taken up. Why do that if we aren’t going to use youngsters

Can’t just be me who isn’t that thrilled about Lundstram or McBurnie? Yeah, they’re ’proven’ players at this level but probably on massive wages and the way it has been reported suggests the club is on a general salary cap, meaning we’ve been throwing as much stuff overboard to make room without the ship sinking. That’s why we’ve cut the squad to the bone and left ourselves short, just so Acun can make high profile signings on daft wages AGAIN.
The widely accepted wage of Omur is 30k a week. People were suggesting Macca was on around 12 to 15k.
McBurnie wanted 40k.

Is it really that bad to have shipped out a 4th choice centre back and a weird little bloke from Turkey who did very little for us in his time here to cover the costs of a proven goal scorer at this level? And actually get a fee for the 4th choice centre back.

It looks to me like we're draining the swamp and trying to sign quality over quantity in its place.

Can we stop pretending like Macca was a bit part player? He played the 4th most minutes out of anyone in our squad along with being our 1st choice left back.

Maybe the plan is to use them more. The u18s appear to have a lot of promise

4th most used player and left back in a side that nearly got relegated. Can we stop pretending not very good players are worth keeping because they are nice people?
The aim is not to be shoving poor quality centre backs into full back shirts and spending the final day praying another club don't score.

The aim is to not be under a fee restriction but here we are.

Eh?
Dublin and the Manager are working with what they can. Their aim is to get rid of the costly rubbish we've accumulated and sign some replacements that will see us win games.

The restriction is there, pointless banging on about it. The guys doing the business are working with it, end of story.

The defence was not the issue last season.
