Finishing in the top three of the Championship means you're in the bottom three of the PL ...

... Leeds and Burnley need to realise they're currently dogshyte and will be lucky to survive.

Finishing in the bottom three means nowt.

Since KLD bought the club he has been adamant on sustainability and the club running itself financially. We’ve seen this with lower wage bills in the championship and lower fees to other clubs.

We aren’t just intentionally pissing the prem money up the wall, it has been thought out on these players and we’ve paid the fees that we are happy with and I’m sure financially are sound with (why would kld throw away his strategy now).

There’s no way we can be certain a diarra or Sadiki or talbi will make it in the prem. They are huge risks but ones the club have done their due diligence on.

It’s like fans of other teams think promoted teams can just buy 5 £40m proven prem players and guarantee survival. It’s ridiculous and clubs have to try and think outside the box to try and compete, that’s what we are doing. If it doesn’t work then fair enough, so be it, but all I’ve wanted us to have is a clear identity and strategy and we’ve got that.

I’m just enjoying the ride and what will be will be. Being grounded instead of excited will make no impact on what we achieve next season, so I’d rather enjoy it while I can.

Henderson off FC Porto's radar: will return to the Premier League
Jordan Henderson has an excellent relationship with Francesco Farioli, but will not accompany the Italian coach in the move to Dragão

Jordan Henderson, former Liverpool captain, is free on the market after not accepting an option to renew his contract with Ajax, where he was coached by Francesco Farioli, with whom he has an excellent relationship, but will not accompany the Italian in the move to FC Porto.

The experienced English international midfielder, 35, will return to England to play for Sunderland, the club in the city where he was born, recently promoted to the Premier League, being out of the Dragons' plans for the market.

Last season, the second he spent in the Netherlands after leaving Al Ettifaq, in Saudi Arabia, where he arrived in January 2023, from Anfield, Henderson added one goal and six assists in 45 games for Ajax.

I get why some fans don’t want Hendo for moral reasons and that’s their choice and I respect it. I couldn’t care less personally. I think he’ll be valuable. As I said an hour or so ago I’d prefer a different profile but there’s many many reasons why it’s a positive move for the squad if it happens

    As I've said before ...

... JH means the end of DN.

That would be a massive shame but sentiment doesn't win games.

You did mate and fair play to you ... not the first time you've been right.

    yeh assuming Neil goes.

if Neil goes it makes even more sense to get Hendo’s leadership in.

Between Hendo, Reinildo and O’Nien I’m plenty happy we have the right experience and leaders in the squad

Henderson will be a great signing, great on the training ground and will drive the standards, will be great for the young lads to see his dedication and standards and what will be required,

Agreed, if a similarly qualified player was available that hadn’t made an entirely unnecessary and clearly financially motivated move I’d rather have them though. I’d be more impressed if he was more open about it being a dreadful decision and apologised unreservedly to the communities he claimed to advocate for but it’s not as heinous as many footballers have got away with and there’s plenty of positives with him too.

Henderson would be the perfect mentor for Neil but with 3 starting spots in the midfield and the options we’re putting together I think you could be right
