In some ways an embargo might do us some good . At least we wouldn't continue wasting millions on players who cannot perform in the championship.

And might provide some reflection time for our owner. God knows how many millions we have wasted under his ownership.
Do you mean 'he' has wasted under his ownership Ev.... I think this is something people forget, our club 'abso, bloody, lutely', but the money 'we' have 'earnt from the EFL has been used effectively. Its his money that has gone west. I do agree this might be a blessing in a horrible disguise however.

Fair enough.
Seems a well considered, well explained stance. Fwiw, one I can agree with in parts but not overall. For example, I think 'we' (read the owner and club) are finally learning from mistakes. Like a lot of others, I was feeling reasonably positive (without getting too carried away) after last Monday's press conference and then the Q&A. But then bang, this unfortunate issue rears it's head. We can only hope it does end up being a storm in a tea cup.

But this is the worst position we’ve been in since he took over?

The debt has (in all likelihood) never been higher and we can’t sign players - we’ve just sacked a manager who has a track record in England and the division (even if people don’t think it’s good enough) for a foreign manager who doesn’t (although I admit he has a better record than Walter - it is still a risk)

At what point does he seem to be learning? This summer is arguably more dramatic than the last.

Yet we are one of only two clubs in the division with a transfer restriction?

As it stands we are more questionably run than most.
I think Leicester have something to which they have to answer from season before last that saw them promoted. No doubt they'll get a 2 point deduction like Blades and be told to carry on as normal.

They can sign players though for a fee?

I'm assuming as it's the start of a new transfer window there will have been updates. Certainly in another sport I worked in they were live trackers on salary and transfer payments linked to the contracts.

I text a CEO I know the other day about this City situation and he thought Villa would have had no choice but to report to stop themselves being investigated so it looked like Acun has genuinely mixed up rules and regs with his more slack approach to money. He desperately needs a competent and experienced football ceo because this is embarrassing for him and could be a real issue in bringing players in for something that is so silly.

Exactly this. It's the Charley/Jeremy thing, at Didley Squat, that's missing. It's an embarrassing clusterfuck that needs mending. Bullshit won't baffle brains in this case - although we are talking of the EFL, so maybe... <doh>

Maybe as last one ran out they might be sorting another deal out not sure?.

Maybe but the wording in that article is identical to the wording from the club’s announcement of our partnership with Safiport a year ago.

Noah Wadsworth. Academy U21.
Believe his 1 yr contract ran out at start of this month. Don't know if it's been renewed or if he's effectively on trial now (with the new coach)?
Sure he was offered a contract extension. Not sure if he signed on the dotted.

As I said not sure, but it would be no surprise if Ali Koc decided to help Acun out with a big sponsorship so he can show finance for the year ahead, especially if he thinks Acun helping him the last year at Fenerbache meant he took his eye off this club which helped towards the situation now, this could be possible, hence why Acun would be able to come out fighting , maybe Acun already knew about this at the Q&A.

Talk about adding 1 +4 and getting 57

I do mean 'he'

Acun will probably use this opportunity to get 5 loans on board all guaranteed payments of 10 million per player in 2 years.

The only reason this Frigan deal is remotely like to happen under these conditions is because he’s close with Westerlo owner. No sane owner is going give us a 18 month loan for no fee

Weird. The article makes out like it’s recent. The deal with Safiport was last summer.

It's been renewed for a larger amount, presumably

We're not talking billions or anything, but it's a way for foreign rich people to put money into the club without being direct investors. Like we did with McVities last season. Penny for Murat Ulker's thoughts right now, he saw the writing on the wall didn't he?

Apparently, the McVities sponsorship was just over a million. Still better than nothing but a drop in the ocean for most Championship clubs.
