The buy back will be for a decent bit of profit at least. It’s how a fair few clubs operate now.
If it’s £20m for Petrovic, the buy back will last however long the initial contract is and will be for around £45m+

Wouldn’t say there’s much disrespect going on. We need another top keeper in the prem, it’s a massive key position.
Can save 8-10 points across the season if the defence stays solid throughout too. That’s crucial when trying to stop up.
He did very well in the playoff final but can't let one game cloud our judgement, he was average at best for large chunks of the season. I think he's an upper Championship level keeper, or decent backup in the Prem, but simply not good enough to be relied on week in week out in the PL, imo.
Patto was statistically an average championship goalkeeper who conceded more goals than the xG model would expect from a goalkeeper facing the shots he faced

Curious as I have no idea about Abline to be honest, but if we dropped £20m on him is he really that far ahead of Mayenda that he’d be a guaranteed starter? The last thing I want is 3 strikers who are all about as good as each other
Yes mate, and i dont massively rate him. For what its worth though i rate him enough to think we'd be in safe hands with him as number 1 till at least January.
He also deserves abit of respect for what hes done to get us here. Sheff Utd could easily have beaten us without his saves.

Depends how much the sell on is as well though. Didn't Villa sign someone back from Hull recently and it worked out as a pittance because they had a buy back and a sell on clause?
I'm a bit sceptical about buybacks. Makes it feel like you're just developing another team's player for them and I wouldn't like to do that for a team in the league we are in.
We just need Matty Young to continue developing at his current rate and we'll be good. A stopgap keeper for a few years is what is needed. If that means a potential buyback then that's fine.

Will all come down to how well we negotiate the details. Could do it contractually so the sell on is only applicable to other clubs and not with the buy back.
Or the buy back could be £50m. Or £60m
It can work. And its common especially in europe to have these sorts of buy backs and release clauses etc. There may well be more of them in our club that we dont even know about.
