You’d have to be tempted by what he could be, just he looked so far away at West Ham. I can’t decide on him (we aren’t linked anyway like)
We'll get to see how his legs are when England are under the cosh against the titans of Andorra then.
The real issue with Henderson (other than the other real issue that has been extensively discussed) is his wages. Surely if he's coming to Sunderland to end his career he can't be expecting anywhere near his current wages of £100,000pw. Granted if he's only on a 1-2 year contract I suppose it doesn't make that much difference as long as its lower than his current wage.
i just feel its incredibly disingenuous of folk and hypocritical to ignore links to Henderson on the argument on legs whilst simultaneously supporting a new deal for Neil. It's been well discussed here that we need pace, power, presence and physicality particularly in midfield and if you neglect Henderson on that basis i dont see how you can support double downing on Neil, who on the back of a 'poor' season overall in a lesser league than the prem, does not have pace, power, or physicality. Believe Henderson would give us incredible aura in the dressing room and a level of calmness and reliability we will need. That and the fact with Ekwah most likely off and Samed off, jobe off, we've only got Neil, Le Fee and Rigg, so arguably need Henderson +1 at a minimum.
Adding Henderson to Neil is my main issue. It's one or the other, if Neil goes then i'm more on board with Henderson, if Neil stays and Henderson arrives we can't really bring in another.
