I wonder what the percentages are …

    • Players the supporters would like to sign but don’t come
    • Players we're linked with who don’t come
    • Players we’ve never heard of actually coming
    I’d say 99%, 99% and 50% <laugh>

Sunderland “will hold talks” with Liverpool over the prospect of a second loan deal for promising striker Jayden Danns, according to reports.

According to the Northern Echo, Sunderland are planning on holding talks with Liverpool over the possibility of signing Danns on another loan deal this summer.

Despite not featuring for the Black Cats, the striker is understood to have made a number of trips to the North East to watch Regis Le Bris’ side in action, and is also said to have spoken to the head coach on several occasions once the extent of his injury became clear. The Northern Echo state that those chats have helped form a strong relationship, while the Liverpool hierarchy have also been impressed with the manner in which Sunderland handled a less than ideal situation involving their loanee.

As things stand, the expectation is that Danns will take part in Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Asia, but it remains to be seen whether he will be deemed surplus to requirements by Arne Slot again next term. If he is then another temporary stint away from Anfield could be in the offing, with Sunderland representing a potential destination.

I just can't get behind it like, not a fan if it's true

Well yeah, you'd hope, I wouldn't be wasting it on Jayden Danns. We need to be shopping much higher in quality. if a striker is going to come in, they need to improve us in the Premier League instantly, We don't need a third-choice young developing striker; we already have Mayenda, Isidor and Abdullahi

Sadly I think that’s exactly where he goes and he will give them a real balance playing off right.

    Maybe,
Or maybe people see a club like us that fires players up as a perfect landing spot.

We have to get into a PL mindset here, when was the last time a side went up with scenes like ours hammered all over every social and media site?

People might just fancy playing here.

Sunderland have ideal profiles for each position within their squad, and are working on a general basis to try and recruit players who can fit into their preferred playing style. While this can of course vary depending on injuries, opposition etc the club philosophy is a high intensity, counterpressing style in some variation of a 4-3-3.

In theory, having a defined style allows the club to focus their scouting on players not just with high potential but with the attributes to succeed within the team shape and style. Sunderland do this through a combination of traditional and data-led scouting methods. Head of recruitment Stuart Harvey gets through a huge amount of work travelling to watch players and build relationships abroad, while a lot of work is also done closer to home to use data to assess potential recruits. While under the new regime this was initially done through a new in-house department, the work is now done in conjunction with the club’s data partners.
