There's little easy fixes that would help around the edges. For instance it's a complete nonsense that any parachute money 'saved' by the PL from a yoyo club is redistributed between the other PL clubs. That could make a difference if it was shared amongst the champ.

Southampton nearly signed him last summer, and apparently there’s a good chance he leaves this summer. Don’t think he’s cemented a place in Brighton’s team since joining

He was injured for quite a bit. He’s a lot better than a PL relegation scrap imo

100%. I get folk saying Brentford and Brighton have earned their place, but then it isn’t impossible for us to do the same.

If we stabilise, it will not be the first time we’ve been in the PL and well backed, however it will be first time we’ve have been PL and well run.

We’ll run just like Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton, but with a bit more prestige and a massive fan base.

Us and Leeds can bridge that gap, we were by far and away the biggest clubs outside the PL, we are bigger than many in it.

We’ll run can first aim to emulate then aim to exceed due to the higher ceiling.

4th bottom and next summer it’s on.

Call me deluded but I have a hunch that 2/3 will stay up and it'll be a bit of a shock. Always seems to be the opposite in football when things appear nailed on.

    Interesting graph.

There is definitely a general and gradient trend downwards for the last 10-15 years, with 22-23 being an outlier, I think we should be realistic in that it's very likely we're not going to be able to overcome the likes of Wolves, Man Utd, West Ham, Everton (17th-14th), and stay up but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have a right good go at it and even if worst comes to worst we leave with a lot of money that puts us in a stronger position to come back up and make an even better go at it.

There's always an over achiever, and an under performer. Hopefully we over achieve.

Now that you have made clarity of the situation, we are seriously going to have to over achieve and not rely on others chucking a wobbly..

Good analysis. What it highlights for me is that we could have an extremely good season, do everything close to perfect, and still be relegated.

Probably going to need a bit of both. I'm not 100% clear on who is close to the PSR/FFP limits so maybe someone can't spend and/or ends up with a points deduction

Its not as hard as all that. Just need to win your games of football really. Do that 38 times and they give you a trophy usually. I think at least.

We basically going to have to try and win 9/10 games, throw in at least half a dozen draws, and hope thats enough.

I struggle to get my head around the fact that Spurs and Man Utd finished as low as they did. Back when we were in the PL, 17th and 15th would be someone like West Brom and Stoke who you'd feel like could be dragged into a real scrap. Now your 17th placed club is in the Champions League and the 15th just dropped £60m on a player

Yeah. The problem with the gap between Prem and Championship isn't the likes of City or Liverpool or Arsenal being incredibly hard to beat. Its that the other 14 teams are as well now.

It used to be a "big 4" followed by the rest, and really any of 10-12 sides could get relegated each year.

Now there's a "massive 6", a "big 9" and then maybe 5 who can get relegated.
