Next season, I can see one of the teams that came down, to do a double drop,
I think that will become more of thing,

Absolutely horrible stuff to watch but Luton almost stayed up with a much much worse side than we do.

The only problem lies in which teams get less than 40 points from the current premier league, there's a few who could "struggle" but does that mean 44 points now?

I really doubt United will be anywhere near the bottom of the table, they don't have Europe to distract them this year.

Spurs might struggle again, really depends on their recruitment. They have Champions League football to in theory attract some big names but their signings have been poor recently. Will be interesting to see how that pans out.

Mate,it'll come down,as it always does,to the quality of the squad. Atm,we have no idea what our squad will look like come August. Once we have that, how we play will be determined on a match by match basis. Can't see any Kompany/Martin approach from RLB.

Honestly a bit more quality at cb and out on the wings and they could’ve stayed up, seems the relegation really shattered the teams morale and the strikers fell of a cliff. Worry what a season of pastings could do to our young lads.

I mean of the teams in the league now probably Everton, Wolves and Fulham have the “weakest” squads but they’ll not be doing nothing this summer. The likes of palace, villa and Forrest may struggle with the extra burden of Europe but I doubt it. Leaves West Ham, Spurs and Man utd who I don’t see having nearly as a bad of a season.

when you look at the squads the players the depth I start to worry but honestly **** it let’s just have em all, don’t need to spend 45 million on a cm if you can train one up to become just that.

Leicester City the most likely if they get that points deduction.

Mentioned this in another thread. As the established Prem teams get richer and richer, I can see the fabled "40 point mark" to avoid relegation getting higher and higher. Wouldn't surprise me at all if we need 45 to survive this year...

Everton have 14 first team players for next season, Moyesy got a rebuild on his hands... Let's see what he does.

Honestly mate I'm praying on a points deduction for someone, feels like it gave a few teams a lifeline as of late.

This will be the telling season. All 3 promoted clubs for different reasons have a chance to survive. If all 3 go down with a whimper for the 3rd successive year and 2 or 3 parachute payment clubs come back up then I do think there will start to be more coverage and discussions on how that can’t continue. How they fix it, I have no idea.

Promoted teams being hindered by FFP including any losses in the championship where you get 100m less every season is sort of ruining it but there are implications for changing that too - you can't discount losses in the championship so maybe you have to treat it like a hypothetical premier league season?

    Very tough to do.

Do you take money off premier league teams and distribute it more throughout the pyramid? They would never risk the premier league not being the biggest league in the world even at the expense of the pyramid.

I think you are missing the credit needed for Hjelde, he took 2 defenders away from the near post, created the space for Ballard

Anyone think Matt O’Riley from Brighton is a good option? Could he be a Jobe replacement or is he a different profile?

The scariest part for me is trying to identify a team that could be dragged into a relegation battle while also trying to be better than Leeds and Burnley. Spurs finished 17th with 38 points, however I'm pretty confident in saying that if they were in an actual relegation battle they would've been mid table, they put all their eggs into the Europa League basket and they were never in any real danger of going down. Same with Man Utd, I just can't see a world where they are in real danger.

Wolves, for me, are the club in the most danger of being dragged into a fight. Already lost Cunha and looks like Ait-Nouri is going to City which is their two best players gone, however I suspect they will bring in around £100m just for those two players which gives them spending power to add to an already decent squad. They also have a good coach.

Everton you have to think they will invest and Moyes will have them in and around mid table at their new stadium.

West Ham are interesting. Again though I expect them to invest heavily into players suited to Potter and they already have players like Bowen who is probably a top 10 winger in the league.

Palace could struggle playing Europa League football but Glasner is superb and I think with them being a London club and having European football they'll be able to attract quality. If they can keep a hold of most of their best players they shouldn't be in danger.

Fulham, Brentford and Bournemouth all have good coaches but have all been linked away which could cause problems for them. Also looks like Brentford and Bournemouth are going to lose their better players but obviously that gives them the opportunity to spend.

Could Forest collapse? Conference League so two games a week, possible that MGW leaves and serious friction between Nuno and the owner.

Scary to look at but there's always someone who has a **** season, just have to hope it's not a Spurs this time.

I think its massively important that we get most signings in nice and early. Cant be waiting till the end of the transfer window and them missing 5 or so games and needing a while to get match fit

Easier said than done of course, im sure we will be right on it anyway

Reads to me like a downward trend from the end of the 2010s. Hopefully we can be an outlier!

Agreed. I understand that there’s better deals to be had towards the end of the window, whether that be better prices or better players available once their current clubs do their business.

Unfortunately for us, we don’t have the luxury to wait for many with the massive disadvantage we have to the rest of the league. I think we’ll need 80% of our business done going into august and leave two or three to be brought in after the season has started. Big challenge but a lot to be excited about.
