Feel there’s bits being held back to coincide with kit launch.

We know his signed. His Insta bio tells us this.

Don't agree with this bit. Those teams have earned the right to sit at the top table, and fully belong there. We don't have some divine right to attract better players, we have to earn that.

By that logic, Spurs and Man United etc could argue that "teams like Sunderland" should never be a more attractive option than them. But I'd like to think that, if we keep doing things right, and they keep getting it horribly wrong, one day we can compete with clubs like that.

Might have missed it but did anyone point out how ****ing good that Le Fee corner was for Ballard's goal in the semi.

Dip and bend and pace and accuracy. **** marking but a very ****ing good corner. Set pieces will likely be very important next year. What a signing that boyo is.

I think we need to stop with this attitude, they are where they are for a reason and have way more success currently

The last 8 years, has gave me a new found respect for the pyramid and shows that every club deserves the same opportunity to achieve the best they can. Do we have everything in place to be a top 10 side (history, fanbase, facilities etc) yes we do, but it has to be earned, and due to bad bad decisions in the last 10 years we havent got close to that. Whereas the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford have all been outstanding and are currently reaping the rewards.

I never complained about the 'parachute clubs' because ultimately they earned that income from previous years good performances. We will get the same next year if we dont surivive, and it would have been earned.

Nothing wrong with being hopeful or setting us high expectations, but we have to respect the place we are in right now. We arent as good an option right now as a Bournemouth, a Brentford or a Brighton, which is frustrating but its deserved. Now we have the challenge to try and get up to their level, it will take time but I think we can. And if/when we get there, then I think things will be in place for us to start seeing things we've dreamed of seeing at the SOL, all got to be earned and good decisions have to be made but theres got to be a lot of hope when you see what has been achieved in the last 4 years.

Promotion has really lit a fire under our transfer clamour, hasn’t it?

I don’t remember being this desperate for news the last few seasons.

I think it's purely because of the quality we can attract now and it should be very busy naturally

But we have a bigger fanbase, more history, more passion. Yes they have done things well but there shouldn't be this massive disparity. We were only one league below them ffs yet they've got a massive head start on us. We can blame ourselves for being mismanaged by Short but that was a decade ago now. Man utd and spurs are massive clubs regardless of the sky money. Why can't it be more evenly distributed?. What's the fun in newly promoted teams having next to zero chance of survival?

Disagree. I'm always desperate for news although promotion has made it worse. Learning we were signing that 16-year-old from NI was like a mirage in the desert. Need a signing soon or I might start camping outside the AoL.

think because this can be the first time since 2017 that we can spend 10m on a player,

we can attract a better calibre player than before,

who would a player go to a PL club or a EFL?

I'm still not totally sure about the promoted teams are ****ed narrative, this season will be telling for if it really is the case.

Only 2 seasons ago all 3 stayed up but the last 2 have been the worst performances by each collective 3 ever. If one or two teams survive it will show just how poorly the last 6 recruited and if none do it will show that 3 consecutive years of the same 17 teams has caused an impenetrable midtable that reaches down to 17th place.

There's no doubt that an imbalance has been created between the PL and the rest, which,I agree looks like it's heading for a closed shop. However,it's not the three B's fault that they've been able to gain access before this comes to pass and sustained some success and, despite what we may think, are an attractive PL proposition to many players, whereas we are a risk. It's up to us to set ourselves up to stay in this league in the same way they have, albeit I get it proves more difficult as each season goes by. It can be done, and I'm confident we can do it. When we're established, then we'll see if anyone chooses any of them before us. Until then,we have to move to the beat of our own drum.

I sent this in the premier league 25/26 thread but:
    upload_2025-6-2_12-17-22.png

Time will now tell if this trend of the last 2 seasons will continue or if the promoted 3 can resort to the mean of averaging about 35-40 each.

I think it’s all gonna come down to how we and the other promoted sides play l. All 6 of the promoted sides were or had reached their ceiling and signed poorly or to prepare for a yoyo drop al la Ipswich.

Also I don’t think any of the sides had a playing style and identity that could survive the prem with the squads they had. See Kompany trying to play like he was at home to Cardiff when he was away at Brighton or Villa.

You can’t come up and play with the big boys and pretend you’ve got a 300 million pound squad. you’re gonna have to win ugly and stabilise.
