The whole way the leagues and distribution of money is set up is the most galling thing for me. There is no way a team like Brentford or Bournemouth or even Brighton should be a more attractive option than us. But that's the way it is and the way sky money has created this false set up. Its almost impossible for a newly promoted team to stay up which is surely never a good thing or look for the premier league.. the best league in world? My arse.
I think we need to stop with this attitude, they are where they are for a reason and have way more success currentlyThe whole way the leagues and distribution of money is set up is the most galling thing for me. I think it's purely because of the quality we can attract now and it should be very busy naturallyPromotion has really lit a fire under our transfer clamour, hasn’t it?
I don’t remember being this desperate for news the last few seasons.
But we have a bigger fanbase, more history, more passion. Yes they have done things well but there shouldn't be this massive disparity. We were only one league below them ffs yet they've got a massive head start on us. We can blame ourselves for being mismanaged by Short but that was a decade ago now. Man utd and spurs are massive clubs regardless of the sky money. Why can't it be more evenly distributed?. What's the fun in newly promoted teams having next to zero chance of survival?Don't agree with this bit. Those teams have earned the right to sit at the top table, and fully belong there. We don't have some divine right to attract better players, we have to earn that.
By that logic, Spurs and Man United etc could argue that "teams like Sunderland" should never be a more attractive option than them. But I'd like to think that, if we keep doing things right, and they keep getting it horribly wrong, one day we can compete with clubs like that.

agree with this, it's happened twice in a row? Okay big deal... it didn't always.I'm still not totally sure about the promoted teams are ****ed narrative, this season will be telling for if it really is the case.
Only 2 seasons ago all 3 stayed up but the last 2 have been the worst performances by each collective 3 ever. If one or two teams survive it will show just how poorly the last 6 recruited and if none do it will show that 3 consecutive years of the same 17 teams has caused an impenetrable midtable that reaches down to 17th place.
There's no doubt that an imbalance has been created between the PL and the rest, which,I agree looks like it's heading for a closed shop. However,it's not the three B's fault that they've been able to gain access before this comes to pass and sustained some success and, despite what we may think, are an attractive PL proposition to many players, whereas we are a risk. It's up to us to set ourselves up to stay in this league in the same way they have, albeit I get it proves more difficult as each season goes by. It can be done, and I'm confident we can do it. When we're established, then we'll see if anyone chooses any of them before us. Until then,we have to move to the beat of our own drum. The whole way the leagues and distribution of money is set up is the most galling thing for me. I sent this in the premier league 25/26 thread but:agree with this, it's happened twice in a row? Okay big deal... it didn't always.

I think it’s all gonna come down to how we and the other promoted sides play l. All 6 of the promoted sides were or had reached their ceiling and signed poorly or to prepare for a yoyo drop al la Ipswich.I'm still not totally sure about the promoted teams are ****ed narrative, this season will be telling for if it really is the case.
