I’m not saying there isn’t but in my opinion if we have any chance of staying up we’re going to have to have plenty on legs in the middle of the park! Got to be full of energy, tenacity and athleticism to stand a chance for me!

I think we can stay up with Dan Neil in this team. Given that we have to replace Jobe already and need at least 1 more, having to replace Neil too seems like it causes more problems than it solves.

I have asked about him to a mate over there who apparently loves him, captained the youth sides at u16 and u17 at 15 years old.

I know nothing about him but this kind of signing really impresses me, looking through the media it seems he had a choice of clubs.

CONGRATULATIONS to Matthew Burns who has been called-up to the NI U17 squad for Euro 2025 elite round qualifiers this week…

Round 2 League A will decide the seven teams joining hosts Albania in this year’s U17 Euro finals, which will take place between 19 May and 1 June.

Northern Ireland have been drawn in Group A7 along with hosts England, Slovenia and Israel, with the games in the mini tournament being played between 19 and 25 March at St George’s Park.

Thanks though I don’t know what that means sorry. In reality if Neil and Watson went for 25, what extra capacity does that give us?
I am rubbish at the financial side of stuff but i am pretty sure a sale of lets say.... £25m would give us that much to spend straight up.

But the fees spent on players are spread over the course of the contract.

So a player who costs £25m on a 5 year deal just costs us £5m every year.

Hopefully someone can confirm or tell me how wrong i am.

I wouldn’t choose football financial regulations as my trivial pursuit specialist subject but I thought I’d read that it’s worth more than the actual cost of the sales in transfers to us somehow. Maybe I was just being numb.

Honestly very well could, the anderson and vlachodimos swap was weird but i think it worked out as:

Newcastle pay 25m for Vlachodimos (5m a year so only 5m spent in year 1)
Forest get Anderson for 20m (4m in year 1)

Forest technically then make £21m profit and Newcastle make £15m - I think the fact that anderson was home grown meant they get 100% of the sale? Gonna need someone else to step in now.

Homegrown players are 100% profit yeah

Yep. Purchases are booked over the course of a contract whereas sales are booked at the point of sale (minus any remaining cost from their transfer). Home grown players are pure profit hence two clubs could swap two academy products for a nominal value of £20m each, have no money change hands and record a very welcome £15m profit on their accounts for that season. That’s why these deals were getting done be for the end of June PSR deadline last year - and why Archie Gray’s £40m fee isn’t quite so clear cut.

Yep, simply had to get rid. Same as Anderson who would’ve been a good player to have in their squad - he featured in every PL game bar one for Forest

It was yeah, mind you their squad has cost them just over £600million to build so not sure theyre too restricted - especially since they have sold almost nobody in that time.

There’s plenty of 6’s in the world who can play a pass and defend well

I suggested Lucien Amgoune a few pages back.

but there’s plenty others

neil el aynaoui
Mahdi Camara
Amadou kone

are all options from Ligue 1
Well see eh?
