I'd be gutted to lose Neil. Get his contract sorted.

Don't disagree with your perception of his performances - worth bearing in mind his age though. We see him as a senior pro but he's still only 23. He's still 4 or 5 years away from his prime. Loads of room to develop into a top player.
I think he’d become a decent premier league player over time but we have to stay up for that to happen. We have to make sure we’re equipped to stay up and we’ll have to make some big calls. Like Henderson though I’d like players with a connection to the club mixed in with the highly paid whiz kids. We’ve just seen how that model pays off.

The academy has to be the heart and soul of this club. That is more important long term than staying up next season. I think we can do both. Selling Neil without our hand being forced would rip a bit of the heart out of this club and would be the first step towards being just another Premier League team. Maybe that's what most people want. Not me. I like that we're doing something else. Being relegated next year wouldn't make me wish we were more like Forest, Burnley, Newcastle or anyone else.

Could be forced if he doesn't sign a new deal

I'd rather he signed a new deal and stayed

On the Neil situation, not pretending I understand it and hoping someone who does will explain it, but am I right in saying income for home frowns leaves added wriggle room with the finances to increase our outlay?
Yeah, 'pure profit' I believe they call it

I remember me and Smug saying we loved this youth approach and going up would be bittersweet because it made it hard to stick with. That means I agree with your sentiment but it’s hard to stick with because if we lose each week we would lose good vibes and harmony anyway.
