Strict with yourself, tolerant with others is a good principle to live by I think.
I don't agree with his decisions, but people are complex and one decision never gives the whole picture, even if it does end up defining them in the eyes of others.
Same way that I know without any question that I would walk away if we ever got owned by a state like Saudi, but I won't disown my Newcastle supporting friends for choosing to keep backing their team.
Everyone has imperfections and is on their own journey. For me, having strong morals is a personal striving, not something that I need to impose on others and judge them for (though I'm sure I'm still a hypocrite at times).
If there was a body of evidence suggesting this was his character, I'd be more inclined to be averse to it. But I think there's enough evidence to suggest it was a mistake.
