This.Obviously there are a load of players and sportsman who have sold out to the Saudis, cant stand the lot.
But with Henderson, its a bit more, just to me anyways. He campaigned for everything they dont stand for, he probably profited from sponsorships and advertisements when it came to being one of the faces of the equal rights campaign. Then he spits in those peoples faces by taking the money from Saudi Arabia and being pretty pathetic in his justification for doing so.
Then you add in what is going on with the Mags and for a Sunderland die hard to move there, just stinks for me like.
Obviously he has a family and will do whats best for them and Im sure there will be a lot of fans on here who just dont care about the above, which is absolutely fair enough. But thats just my thoughts on him and why I dont want him back at the club.
I won't marra. The club and he will get my full backing...A lot of people who don't want this are going to melt when they hear his scarf interview about how he never wanted to leave and loves the area and club and it was always his dream to bring him family back home to Sunderland.
PL money is a game changer though. Would be daft to turn down such an experienced player and one who can (IMHO) still cut it at PL level. If he's good enough for England, then he's good enough for us....I'll probably get shot down, but I still don't think Jordan will be here next season....just doesn't feel like a KLD/RLB type of signing to me.
Yes,I can get the argument. I suppose it'll come down to the deal. Do we think,by engaging him on a short term, but lucrative, contract we're going to get value for money? I'm not convinced that KLD/KS/RLB will think they can't find another very experienced player, some 6 or 7 years or so younger, that won't be able to provide the same input to the team. I'd caveat that by saying of course Jordan has us as his roots,so I'd expect his committment to be in the right place, but I just don't think it fits.
Yep,I get it.2 year deal on around £50-80k pw, a massive pay cut from what he currently earns, he will become one of our biggest earners as things stand but those sorts of wages are low ebb in the Premiership these days. He'll be vital the first season and pass the baton onto our younger lads in the second.
Who is the player most like Hendo in the team at the moment ? I don’t think we actually have one. Maybe Triantis by the brief looks I’ve seen of him2 year deal on around £50-80k pw, a massive pay cut from what he currently earns, he will become one of our biggest earners as things stand but those sorts of wages are low ebb in the Premiership these days. Well,we don't have anyone in terms of experience and leadership who even comes close....not much doubt about that. We have Dan Neil and Nectar, who's coming back from a very successful stay at Hibs, and they bring legs.Who is the player most like Hendo in the team at the moment ? I don’t think we actually have one. I 100% agree with you mate, I couldn’t care less about his personal life (unless he was a nonce like) the club is moving forward rapidly and we need someone of his ilk to help nurture the likes of Dan Neil, Chris Rigg, Jobe (if he stays) that kind of experience is invaluable and he can still do a job for us if needed to come on to sure things up, as well as help coach our youth coming through the ranks.I'd have him back in a heartbeat, experience, loves the club, professional and would probably agree to wages that suit our structure.
His legs might not be what they were but it's not like he's playing pub football, it's still a decent division and he's also played European and international football this season

A season ago I would have said no, I don’t know what’s really changed but I say yes now !We don't have anyone like him, he's basically an engine room with a good range of passing, maybe Dan Neil is technically the closest but he really doesn't get that close.
Shame the engine is a 50cc Honda nowWe don't have anyone like him, he's basically an engine room with a good range of passing, maybe Dan Neil is technically the closest but he really doesn't get that close.
Agree totally with this. I have not seen anything of him for a few months. But he looked far from “that” player the few times I’ve seen him at Ajax. Looked leggy and slow. Could still pass, but nowhere near the engine he used to haveShame the engine is a 50cc Honda now
